Jazz should tank the 2011 season to draft Myck Kabongo

Do you think it's possible that the age limit to when someone can enter the NBA is increased again with the next CBA?

I'm not so sure that we should be already proclaiming next year to be the "best draft class since 2003", quite yet. The new CBA may add a slight twist to the status quo.

Most speculation I've read is it would not pertain to the 2012 class, but rather start with 2013 .. we'll see.

Epic fail. First, never 'tank.' Second, of all the players in the next draft, why would we target the guy that's about the 15th best player that year.

I've said for 6 months that our next PG should come from FA, I'm willing to bet that's the case.

You're a smart man. And I 3rd the Brad Beal feelings.

Tank for Kabongo? Ok..............?

I did a quick research on the PG crop coming out for 2012, pretty underwhelming quantity. Only two PG's who seem to have lottery potential, Kabongo and Teague. I'd much rather have Kabongo. From what I've read he seems to be a true PG, which I like.

I also like Kendall Marshall in the 2nd round possibly. True PG who averaged a ton of assist as a freshman and didn't have to many TO's.

I think the Jazz will probably try to package their 1st round picks and a player to move up into the draft(assuming our pick isn't already high) to nab one of the top players.

Just my opinions ..

- I'd take Kabongo over Teague
- I'd take neither in the lottery in 2012
- There's minimal drop-off between 1 and 12 in that draft. Stacked with studs .. I could just about make an argument for 10 guys going #1.

Don't bother with PGs in the lottery next year (maybe Marshall if he can be had in the late first). Next year is all about the Jazz SF of the future.

As far as PG I'd see about some of the undrafted guys this year. Let one of them be backup or 3rd PG and evaluate them.

LOVE Brad Beal.

Ok I will admit I'm a big fan of Brad Beal. And since I'm sure you follow recruiting and I know you follow college bball, what are your thoughts on Rodney Purvis? I know it's early in relation to the NBA, but I like him quite a bit too. You should start a college bball thread btw, something to keep us busy.

I'm sure once the season starts there will be clear #1 guys. It will probably be one of the PF's.

Yes, Beal is definitely a shooting guard (could he play point? sure, I think so .. but I'd play him at SG). I think he's a whol level above Rivers ... just no one is flashier (a.k.a. ballhog) than Austin.

I like Purvis A LOT. He is fantastic with the ball in his hands, a major creater, major scorer, major slasher. His defense is sub-par at the moment but not worried about that at all with him. His shot is suspect, but his mid-range is money and he's one that I believe will get much better. I'd say by the 2013 draft (or '14 if CBA dictates), he's top 5.

I'm not going to start a cbb thread, I'd love to participate, but I'm kinda tryin' to lay low, lol.

Right now there's consensus, I believe, at #1 .. I believe that will not change. My point is there's 10 studs that are only slightly different (in talent/skil/upside) from one another. I love these kind of ballers .. freaky long, freakish athletes, and can dribble, shoot, pass, slash, and rebound. Great crop.

I like Beal but isn't he more of a SG. I really think Michael Gilchrist is going to be good.

I hate comparisons, but I think Gilchrist is freakishly similar to Pippen and about the most humble team-first guy you'll ever see.

Gilchrist is a guy who isn't insanely good at anything, but he's the type that wins you a championship. Dead serious when I say that.
