What's new

Jazz sign another D league dude (Elliott Williams)

As long as we are bringing in other people's garbage anyone interested in Alex Kirk or Lance Thomas. Thomas played at Duke and Kirk is a 7 footer that played at New Mexico. Thomas was averaging 5.1 ppg for OKC before being traded to the Knicks. The Knicks are supposed to waive the three players they got in the trade.

Has anyone ever seen HomeyTennis and DL standing next to one another, because nobody loves them some D-League basketball as much as they do. . .

Was one of my favorite players at Duke. I was pretty bummed out he transferred.

Long, lanky, athletic and smooth. Not a great shooter, pretty good slasher. Versatilr, but weak. Good defender. Plays better with the ball in his hands than without. Definitely not a PG. Similar to Evan Turner actually.

I don't see how he fits in. Will probably play with Exum (if he plays), and I don't know if they fit well together.

Somewhere I read that he is a terrific on ball defender. I wonder if they play him with Exum and let Exum gaurd the sg?

Possivle, but most opposing SG's are just going to post Exum up. That would be a backcourt with both guys under 200. It could definitely work in certain scenarios though.

These little moves do up my interest level. Not that I want a team full of D-league call ups to watch, but it's fun to see new blood playing.

What's not to like about the prospect of Novak or Christopher getting released? What if the Jazz were able to get a pick for Novak?

If The Jazz can get a pick for Novak, then DL is a Jesi master. Imagine getting two picks for a guy that doesn't even cost you anything to acquire and hasn't contributed anything to the team thus far. I'd guess the Jazz would have to pay someone to take him like Toronto did. If he anger a pick. . . well. . . he's a lot better than I give him credit for (and I'm a pretty strong supporter of his.)

Regardless of whether you've identified a motive here, I think this is the right way to interpret these little moves. They are likely defensive-stopgaps; I'd guess their main contribution to the team will be felt in practices.

Still hoping to see Gal Mekel get a shot. Jazz haven't figured out the Burke/Exum issue yet. Gotta find a way to force some accountability while not sacrificing development. Unless they trade for a guy like Lin, they need to start looking at veteran point guards who are out there. He seems to be the best on the market at the moment.

Wouldn't surprise me if the Jazz asked for a temporary roster exemption to go above 15 players since so many guys are out injured or ill. An exception is only good until one of the guys comes back from his injury/illness. Sounds like a 10 day DL contract is perfect for that scenario.

How low is Lin's stock right now? How low is Rubio's?

I'd buy either at the right price.

This would make the most sense.

Lin was benched for defensive issues, but has been a little better coming in off the bench.

As bad as Trey has been, I'd happily swap Novak and Clark plus a future 2nd for Lin. It might not solve the perimeter defensive issue, but it would certainly give a Quin a smart veteran player to plug into the starting lineup. If Lin plays the pick and roll as well as he did in New York, it would be a thing of beauty. I personally think that he's a perfect stopgap move.

I don't see the Wolves moving from Rubio until they see how their team looks with the injured veterans back in the starting lineup and the young guns coming I off the bench.

The trade for Lin would be a swindle. The sheriff would come looking for DL to lock him up for theft.
