Jazz/Sixers Trade Idea

I'd consider it for sure. I think I am more likely to move Lauri IF we land Cooper. I'd be trying to land the guy that can grow and be with him long term and if you can land a top 5 pick you have a chance at finding that guy... and if you move Lauri you are more likely to suck next year... giving you a chance to keep the pick.

In some ways Lauri is failed tank insurance. Say we hit the darkest timeline where we don't land top 4 either year. Maybe you get some high upside guys and do the trade for a star and build a mid-team... no idea what 2027 and 2028 drafts are projected to be like but having two tear down years and two unlucky tank years may be all they can tolerate and then you abandon the high upside rebuild and lean into Lauri plus some other good players and hope the young players or other picks we have yield something great. It would suck *** but imagine if you tank two years... are unlucky... and moved Lauri and have like Kon Knueppel, Kas, and Nate Ament after 4 years of rebuild. Rough... it is the darkest timeline for a reason.

So that is part of the reason I think there is a case to move Lauri if you land the #1 pick. So much of the "Would you do this trade?" talk is so dependent on May 12th for me. So its hard to answer.

If we are trying to tank next year PG may be a lose-lose situation unless you moved him really quick. If he is good then you may be winning too much (it can be managed of course) if he sucks or is hurt you will tank pretty hard but be saddled with the worst or one of the worst contracts in the league. I don't know where Philly's head is at but I wonder if they'd go for Collins/Sexton/Minny pick for #3-#6 (they won't do #2 unless it was much bigger imo) and PG. Then if PG recovers some value you have PG, Lauri, Walker and whatever the top 6 picks for Utah/Philly were and may not be overly concerned about a 2026 tank. IDK there are too many timelines right now.

Dont think I said broken. He turns 35 in a month. He's on a huge contract. He's probably not going to get significantly better and he has always had injury issues. He's probably going to amount to a solid starter who you hope can turn it on in the PO (but will he be healthy?)

If they wait longer they might not be able to swap him with the picks they usually have.

I dont know, I think the trade just makes sense for both teams.
With Morey I wonder if he'd be more inclined to do a three team deal where he gets KD and Lauri goes to Phoenix. I also wonder if they landed at #2 if they would auction the pick off... Harper doesn't fit the other guys they have and they could use it as a way to do a bunch of things.

I'm not sure they are desperate enough to give up a prime asset for the purpose of shedding PG (and getting Lauri here obviously) because if Embiid is cooked then they are kinda hosed no matter what. So they might need clarity there before deciding what a PG trade would even look like.

Also knowing Morey he'd start with PG for Lauri, Walker and our pick this year... Ainge would get pissed and they'd never talk again. Morey is the guy that people think Ainge is on the ridiculous offers.

I think I will have like 20 hypothetical Lauri trades once we see where the draft board lands.
