Jazz Starting To Get Healthy?

Jefferson fine, Burks not so fast. To me this season is mainly about 5 guys. Burks is one of them. Cutting his time is directly opposed to that. I want Burke, Burks, Hayward, Favors and Kanter to all have 30+ minutes a game.

What if Brandon Rush is better than Alec Burks?

Does team balance not factor into your discovery? Complementing Burke well will help him grow.

Also, why are so many posters obsessed with maximizing pt? Is playing 32 vs 27 minutes really Thee difference maker?

Jefferson should be the odd man out once these guys return. If its Burks (which would not surprise me) then we can all piss on Ty again.

I am more interested to see Marvin the Wet Bandit return. Jazz could use some help up front and he can fill in at the pf for a few minutes. Also, the pf 3pt shooter really helps the Jazz offense spacing. It is easy to see Marvin playing the offensive side down the stretch of close games.

This is not about you!

What if Brandon Rush is better than Alec Burks?

Interesting question.

Rush has only averaged 30 mpg in one season (2009-2010). From 2008 thru 20111 (excluding last year for injury) he averaged 26.75 mpg and averaged up to 10ppg, 4rpg and 1 asp. Career 41% 3 pt shooter. So there are some areas that he will be better (3 pt shooting) than Burks and some that Burks will be better (assists). Not sure comparing them is the way to go.

You figure that there are 96 mpg to average out amoung the wings for each game. Say 30 Hayward, 30 Burks, 20 Jefferson and 16 Rush? That leaves harris in the cold. Do we want to rob him of time given his effort and D? Tough decision. For me Williams looks like the odd man out in that equation but he has merit as well.

Once Rush has his rust knocked off and is in full swing those minutes could be re-evaluated. That will also give Burks at least 2-3 months to show what he can do with extended minutes.

Sloan's "not losing your job due to injury" rule should rein true. Burks won't lose his position unless he starts to suck or gets hurt.

Here is what I see as minutes distribution

Point JLIII 24 Burks 15 Tinsley 9 becoming Burke 24 Burks 15 JLIII 9 and Tinsley cut
SG Hayward 18 Rush 20 and Burks 10
SF Hayward 18 Williams 15 and Jefferson 15
PF Favors 35 Williams 8 and Evans 5
C Kanter 35 Gobert 13
DNP Beans and Mike Harris(if not cut)

I hope Rush ultimately takes minutes from Tinsley and JL3 because Burks runs some 1.

I'm not concerned about Williams taking minutes from Harris, Jefferson, and maybe Gobert. His D and shooting are needed.
