Jazz to call up Chris Johnson from D League

Good Lord, the Jazz organization has been quite slutty this season.

Every team should do this for DLeaguers. Salary is only $17K for most fro the entire season. They make almost $30K, I believe, for one 10-day contract. Last twenty days and they have 3 years worth of D-League salary to put in the bank. Something really needs to be done to raise DLeague salaries if the NBA is serious about it becoming a true minor league system. Otherwise the best players who are released in training camp will continue to go to Europe, China, etc. to play.

interestin signing. chris johnson was a beast on the titans but really fell off after that. but who knows maybe he can have a revival here.

Based on these highlights why did we ever call up Elliot Williams first?

Probably because Utah was looking for great defenders who could develop a 3PT shot. Williams had the reputation as being a very good defender. But it's obvious Utah needs some scoring. Maybe Johnson will provide that. If not, Jazz will just continue to rotate 10-day players until the break and trade deadline. I think that's when Hood is scheduled to be evaluated.

There is something in Williams DNA that makes you go hmm. The Sixers let him go after he played for them last year and they are awash in talent. He was a first round pick of the Blazers and picked one pick ahead of Booker.

If Johnson sees game action he'll be the 18th player to play at least 1 game for the Jazz this season. The last time the Jazz had 18 or more players make an appearance in one season was 2003-04.

In case you're wondering, the most players to have played at least 1 game for the Jazz within a season is 22, and that was in the team's first season in 1974-75.

Yes, I think so.

Wes Matthews was an undraft FA who was brought to training camp after having a mediocre go on our summer league team. As I recall CJ Miles got hurt in London during some exhibition games so he got to start. And he seized the opportunity.
