Jazz V Spurs II Why a back to back with the same team only Stern knows

My wife just asked me a question and I thought that I would share it with this board.

She just asked me if the Spurs best players were playing. I told her that they were not.

She then asked me if the Spurs were the top seed in the west. I told her that they were.

She then asked what seed that the Jazz were fighting for. I told her the 8th seed.

Then she came to a brilliant conclusion. She asked why everyone wanted the playoffs so much when there is a good chance that the Spurs would win big in a sweep and the Jazz would lose their pick.

She also asked me if she was missing something. I told her that she wasn't.

She then said, "Wouldn't it be better to get some more talent and develop that talent?" I told her yes.

She just shook her head and walked away.

thats a good story

So It looks like the Jazz are going to manage to barely scrape by against the Spurs with their best 3 players sitting while at home! Doesn't this just make everyone so excited for the playoffs!!!

That's kind of where I am. I'm listening to Boler and Harp sell the Kool-aid, but I'm underwhelmed. They took 48 minutes to beat a lottery team (without the big 3). Glad they did it, but I'm not sure it was "AMAZING!"

Bring on the Spurs!! We can beat them any time anywhere and with anyone!!! (Except Parker, Duncan and Ginobili) Yea, go Jazz!! You are a playoff team!!

So we should forever just develop young talent, halt long term success. We already have four talented sky's the limit talents that need to be developed who were lotto picks. We don't need anymore rookies. We have the future now! By making the playoffs we are essentially talking the young 4 into signing long term. We need to find good vet roll players. Why do you think the spurs are so good. We struggled tonight because of mistake after mistake after mistake was committed by this team. As long as we make the playoffs we have a chance to make noise. If we miss we don't.

I'm sure I'm about to get berate because of what I'm about to say, but oh well. It is beyond me how some of you people think that it's perfectly acceptable to "tank" this season away so we get the lottery pick. I would have to guess that the people that think that's acceptable didn't play sports EVER! If you did I dang sure wouldn't have wanted you on my team. I want to win. I want to win today, tomorrow, two years from now. I get the fact that we aren't going to win the West or win it all. However, we have a very young team that is trying to grow up. Hence the ups and downs we've experienced over this year. I'm a firm believer we can build with what we have. I know we are missing a piece or two to make this a complete team. I also think that a trip to the playoffs would help this team more than some maybe even most on this board believe. I'm just glad to know our players don't think like some of you do.
Rant over.

My point is even if the Jazz win but struggles to do so .. which is exactly what happened ... the Jazz does not deserve to be in the playoffs.

I am all for playoff experience but with the lineup that the Jazz have and the way they are playing, it might be better if they instead draft a good player.

Hey, somebody else gets it!!! Well said.

So...Can anyone else see Pop sitting the big 3 for the playoff series between the Jazz and Spurs so Timmy can rest against better opponents? Imagine the insult if the Jazz were swept like that!

Last few minutes were amazing! Good to see this young team trying to find it's way fight and claw back and make big plays down the stretch. I don't care fow the jazz win as long as they win.

I want to see how this team responds in a playoff setting. Jazz basketball is better suited for playoff ball then the regular season. In the playoffs the game slows down, and play is more physical, something the jazz need a taste of, mainly guys like Hayward and Favors. The playoffs would do wonders for this team.

Not every young player will develop, but the more you get, the more chances that you find a gem. Do you honestly think the Jazz will win any games, much less a playoff series? The Spurs are good because they have a few key players that know how to win. Who is that for the Jazz? Hopefully the young guys become that, but the vets aren't, and I don't care to see them limp into the playoffs and get killed by whomever they may face.

I'm convinced that the Charlotte Bobcats would be a plaly-off team with Popovich as their head coach!
