Jazz vs. Grizzlies game thread (8:00 pm MTN)

Morant is out and we play at home, it should be a win even with our struggles. It would be great to build a large lead early so we can see something more of Brantley.

I don't understand why people think Niang is so bad. I've seen a lot worse. I'd be willing to wager he has a better +/- than Green. Not to say he's better but you can't fault his effort, which is Green's problem -- he disappears for stretches of games.

Niang is actively targeted on defense and doesn't have the ability to do jack **** about it. He doesn't bring anything to the table besides tenure and when his shot is occasionally on. Niang is worthless and is lucky to be in the league.

Exactly this. Teams target him on defense and cannot stay in front of his man for the life of him. It usually ends with him fouling and giving them an and 1

Memphis is in a tough spot. They would like to lose more because their draft pick is going to Boston unless it is a top 6 pick.

But they also would like the Jazz to lose because Jazz pick is owed to Memphis and is only protected 1-7 and 15-30.

How in the world Danny Ainge keeps getting extra lottery picks is inexplicable.
And how the jazz keep giving away draft picks for short term rentals is infuriating.

Niang does have a better plus/minus. Niang is a -53 while Green is -82. Both individually are a massive problem. Together it's even worse. The reason I single out Niang and that I say that I want the Jazz to play Brantley over Niang is because the Jazz are notoriously slow making rotation changes. I know they aren't going to sit a veteran like Jeff that they just signed and planned on being a key bench piece. So it has to be Niang they sit. Hopefully Brantley, if EVER given the chance, kills the opportunity. Then he might start stealing Greens minutes.

Brantley emerging would be a big storyline. Green needs someone to push him and the Jazz need something actually resembling a playmaking big man. There are a ton of minutes waiting to be taken at those positions.
