What's new

Jazz vs Mavericks | Friday December 3rd @ 8:30pm

While this loss hurts a lot and the Jazz had their opportunities to turn this around, Dallas played a great game. I don't think I've ever had anything great to say about their execution, their D, or their intangibles, but tonight they looked like a legitimate, formidable team.

The Jazz just seemed to quit running their sets after a while in the 2nd half and it made all the difference. We executed in the 1st half at least somewhat successfully and what do you know, we are up 4 at the half. 2nd half, just a complete meltdown.

You pretty much summed it up. I was feeling very positive in the 1st half and then they came out and laid an egg in the 3rd and 4th quarters. I was amazed it was down to only a 4 point Dallas lead at the end of the 3rd. Really tough game. The loss is not as tough as the way in which they lost. If they lose a close game you are mad, but not as mad as that 4th quarter in which we couldn't do anything right.

This one's on Deron. Bad decisions against the zone and let's Jason Kidd shoot 3 pointers all day on him - the only way he can hurt you nowadays.
Sloan also gets some responsibility. Dallas has three legit 7 footers you might want, just maybe, to play your 7 footer more than 11 minutes.....

Give credit to Dallas defense, they made every shot tough. Looked like there was a lid on the rim, it can be tough when things aren't going your way. They made D-Will frustrated and that's obviously hurt us a lot..... I see Al Jefferson only had 3 free throw attempts, he's got to find a way to go up stronger to the hoop and at least draw a foul, get something out of the possession.

Gotta get over this one quick. It was the perfect storm. Our offense had a very off night and the Mavericks hit every damn jumper they took. When their jumpshooters are on they're just impossible to stop, but good luck to them getting very far in the playoffs with it.

Bring on Memphis.

This is me in rare form, but I KIND OF agree. The Jazz as a team played poorly and just stupidly (HOW DO YOU GAMBLE OFF OF NOWITSKI after getting burned REPEATEDLY for it???) and I don't think Deron took bad shots, but his "defense" on Kidd was unbelievably bad and the coaching staff takes some responsibility for that as well (does anyone have a scouting on Kidd newer than when Y2K was an issue?).

Fesenko's +/- wasn't good, but no one's was very good. He made an impact when he was in. Really not sure how he couldn't get more minutes.

Anyway.

The Jazz are good still, 15-6 every 21 games this season and they'll get to 58-59 wins total... That should be good for 3rd in the West.

But, about the game, I still had some hope that Deron would have shown some heart at the end and knee'd Berea in the nards as he blew past him for the 50th time.
