Jazz vs. Trail Blazers (8:30 MT on TNT)

How in the **** can you be a Jazz fan and think basic stats like that tell any kind of story? Holy ****.

Like you know the whole book on Whiteside is empty stats? Do you watch any kind of basktball? Cuzz by your logic Whiteside is having a better season than Gobert.

You made the statement that comparing Whiteside to Nurkic is the worst take ever. That was a moronic overreaction. I'll give you that I would take Nurkic over Whiteside, but it is just marginal. If Nurkic is your second best player, you aren't doing much. Blazers played their best basketball during the playoffs when he was out. With the way Portland plays, when they are truly scary, he isn't as much of a difference maker. If CJ and Dame are on, Portland is tough to beat. If they aren't hitting they are pretty much Charlotte, with or without Nurkic.

If the Jazz don't have Bojan and Mitchell, Gobert, as good as he is, isn't really making the team a playoff contender. When those two suck at the same time, we lose. Nurkic is a pale shadow of Gobert.

Just another routine win. So routine in fact that Quinn apparently fell asleep at the wheel leaving the scrubs in in blowout mode even after the lead was cut to single figures. And those scrubs even included a player that had never even practiced with the team, let alone run one of their plays. But all's well that ends well and I am encouraged that he gave Clarkson the green light. Baptism by fire, the kid's a full-on Jazzman now!!!

I mean they were double teaming Lillard out to 30 feet. Not really a whole lot you can do there scheme wise. Mitchell played heavy minutes.

Clarkson's statline may suggest otherwise but his shot selection was OK. He was energetic but had no rebounds.
He never played for a good coach in his career. Perhaps Coach Q may help him a bit.

His addition won't fix the bench issues as evidenced by today's game. Lillard finished the game with -26, while their mediocre bench with around +20.

No offense, but did you ever play any organized basketball? It was night and day when they got the starters back in. It didn't have to be that close, Quinn fell asleep momentarily trust me.

I agree with your assessment of the coaches he's played for, but if you're saying he won't improve the bench based on one game, I strongly disagree.

Oooooohhhh, a REAL top 10 center? Once you get past 6 or 7 the position doesn't matter much anymore. The real difference between him and Whiteside isn't anywhere near the difference between Nurkic and Gobert, Embiid, or Jokic. And, yes, when Portland wins it is because their guards are killing it. If Dame and CJ suck, Nurkic isn't saving the game for them. The Blazers are pretty much the same as last year, it's just that the teams above them in the West got better.
To go from Harkless/Aminu to bazemore/melo is a major downgrade no matter how you look at it dude

Last year Nurkic had a On/Off rating of +12.4 points compared to Dame's of +13.7.

The guy had a BPM of 5.1. He had a usage rate of 25%. The guy was a massive part of their success and easily their 2nd best player last year.

Yah, he's not the elite of the elite (Gobert/Jokic/Embiid/Davis/KAT) but he isn't that far off.
Especially consider Blazers record right before they acquired Nurk in 2017, and their record since trading for him. Blazers ain't no playoff team this year just based on their roster and it's hardly a surprise to see them struggling the way they did

Lmfao

I think we might be better without Conley. Mitchell should be our full time starting pg. we should look to trade Conley if at all possible. I was opposed to trading for Conley in the first place.
Put the ball in DM’s hand may not be the best for us at the moment, but definitely the best way for us to develop his game and help him taking his game to the next level. Harden would not be the star that he is now had him stayed with OKC and not given the primary ball handling role. Likewise Ginannis would not have become the MVP had Bucks not surrounded him with 4 shooters and let him do his work. People here talked about wishing DM to elevate his game but it won't happen with him standing in the corner while watching Conley doing his little dance then bricking a floater

Jazz are 7-3 since Conley went down with that injury, Mitchell averaging 26.3/5.2/4.1 as the pseudo PG, averaging nearly 8 assists per game over the last 3. Better than I expected.
