Jazz want Sap?

I see this as a tough decision. I really didn't see Kanter as starter material last year. Dude get blocked a ton. And Favors better hope Malone helps him get a couple more moves around the basket. If they could get Sap back for a decent price I'd bite. I know there's folks here who say Corbin loves vets, but if you can't beat out the player in front of you in practice you shouldn't start in the game, no matter how much potential you have. Big France is only ready for a few minutes a game, so even if they don't sign Sap they need at least one more solid big. After Sap I'd say Robinson makes sense...

every single game favors and kanter outplayed jefferson.
its not the players fult the coaches (and you for that matter) don't see it.

The problem is that when a young guy actually beats out the vet the vet still gets playing time over him. Time and TIme again Burks would out play Foye yet Foye got the majority of minutes. Another example is Carroll and Marvin.

Realistically Kanter and Favors are going to get 33 minutes a game at most, that leaves 30 more minutes we need at PF and I don't want to see Marvin Williams get that much burn he is a bum. Evans would be demolished at PF. Gobert probably won't be ready for anything and is a pure center. We would be razor thin and an injury would have us scrambling to pick a D league player up. The Jazz need another PF, they did not trade Millsap for a reason.

When Evans has gotten minutes he has not got demolished. Most of the time he gets a pretty good stat line for limited minutes. Jeremy could play 15 -18 minutes in a pinch.

I'll be pretty disappointed if we sign Millsap. Even if it's at a decent price, it'll still **** with the two most important factors in our title aspirations:

1. The development of Favors and Kanter
2. Getting a potential superstar in the 2014 draft

Hopefully it's just a feeling out process:

1. As a courtesy to Millsap who has been with us his whole career; and

2. To see whether we can get a good deal for him (he might be excited to mentor/groom our young bigs for a reasonable price)

Lindsey has come up GOLD for us so far, let's see if he can continue this hot streak - I am confident he'll make the right call.

i would add that our vets didn't made the playoffs and had a pathetic performance after the allstar break

apparently this is what some here like to see over and over

I've always been of the opinion that Millsap was given the starter nod over Favors because of his contract situation. Corbin loves vets, and I'm sure he loves Millsap for obvious reasons. I think Ty still gave Sap the benefit of the doubt, even though Favors turned on last season, to give him the best chance at a payday. Ty hinted towards it at the end of last season.

I don't think he'll get the same treatment again if Kanter out plays him, and I think Sap knows this. On top of that, there was supposed friction between Ty and Paul last season.

I don't see him coming back.

Seems like there is friction with Ty with everyone but the FO.

If the Jazz resign Millsap there is no doubt that he will start or have significant minutes over favors or kanter... And thus the half-*** theme of running the Jazz to mediocrity will continue. He's an undersized PF.

maybe they just wanted to give him a last chance to accept a role off the bench?

or maybe just for appearances?

if you watch that game vs the clippers where millsap scored like 15 in the first, then blake griffen destroyed him for the next 3 quarters

that was the game that really convinced me Sap's days in Utah were numbered

We don't need Millsap on our roster for any reason. He wants to be a starter, we don't need a PF starter, we have one that we need to develop. We could use a backup and it's not Sap, sadly. The only serious development of a player is through playing more minutes against starting players on opposing teams. (Latest use case(s) of such: Jimmy Butler, Earl Clark and more...). I'm sure the Karl Malone assistance will only come good with starters minutes and I'm sure that's why they asked The Mailman to come back and help.

GM Dennis Lindsey met with Paul Millsap at his home Sunday, per @KBergCBS. Jazz and Millsap have "high interest," @tribjazz first reported.

I like it. A three man rotation of Sap, Favors and Kanter. 32 min each. Gobert will get garbage time or be ready when foul trouble/injuries strike.
