Jazz want Sap?

I don't think Sap wants to come back.
I like Paul, but I'd rather see Favors and Kanter starting. I think Derrick is a better fit at PF than C. Put 100% effort into developing a center tandem of Kanter/Gobert. Eiffel Tower isn't ready, but that's okay; we need the backups to lose games for us. Burke, Hayward and Burks (or whoever we sign as a FA SG) can take care of the offense. I'd rather see the Jazz be a little worse this season than make Millsap the #1 option on offense.

I think Sap would be one of the best compliments a team could find to Dwight Howard. I know that wasn't your point.

I think with the money saved by signing Sap instead of Howard and Howard's abilities vs Sap's, Sap would be a better signing than Howard for Houston. They are a P&R team. Howard isn't. They like to run. Howard doesn't. Now Howard's defense is incredible....maybe I'm just crazy here.

I've always been of the opinion that Millsap was given the starter nod over Favors because of his contract situation. Corbin loves vets, and I'm sure he loves Millsap for obvious reasons. I think Ty still gave Sap the benefit of the doubt, even though Favors turned on last season, to give him the best chance at a payday. Ty hinted towards it at the end of last season.

I don't think he'll get the same treatment again if Kanter out plays him, and I think Sap knows this. On top of that, there was supposed friction between Ty and Paul last season.

I don't see him coming back.

I think the Jazz go for contract length (4 years, 30 million). I bet he gets a 2 year 10-12 per deal from somewhere else. You take the two year deal. He could end up making 30-40 million over 4 years if he takes the two year deal compared to Utah's 4 year deal.

So if Kanter and Burks are following the same trend that Favors and Hayward went through, then I fully expect Favors but not Kanter to start. Same for Hayward/Burks.

I predict that we will get a starting small forward or SG. One of Foye/Mayo/Budinger (see below) will be on the roster as a starting wing.
Carrolle will come in as backup SF.

Burks and Kanter will get 20-25 minutes next year.
We are not tanking next year. The FO would never ever do that.

According to @WojYahooNBA, Jazz have "secondary interest" in Chase Budinger. https://tinyurl.com/ksl4ybr

EDIT: I didn't see that 'Jazz FA Rumors' thread. Mods, could you please merge the two?

When did basketball players turn into NFL running backs? People guaranteeing Paul will be washed up in two years? Come on. He has an insane work ethic and is quite a good player. I do agree that bringing him off the bench is the way to go but I'm amazed at how people assume that the core 5 will all be starting next year. I think it's time for some to slow their roll.

I haven't run the numbers, but if the Rockets are serious about moving Lin and/or Asik, I think getting Millsap is possible for them and would be a good idea. Even if Houston couldn't find the cap space to sign Millsap outright, the S+T option is still there.

Well we can't really do anything about what they decide. I think if we do sign some of our vets we should have them come off the bench. I always thought Millsap would destroy off the bench, foye would be a great specialist off of it. Whatever though. I just hope we hand the team over to Hayward and Favors and let Burke get some quality time on the floor with our other young guys.

Not too hip on this. Would rather just part ways as friends and trade for Robinson from Houston. Push the youth movement.

5 wins is commonly the difference of 5 spots, at least once in the lottery/out of the playoffs. And the difference between 7th best and 12th best odds to land in the lottery - at least historically - is huge.

Also if anything the '13 has shown that teams are more willing than ever to pick who is "right for their team". I suspect the difference in talent between #7 - #12 won't be too large... even if it is, our guy would either slip to us, or we simply trade up to grab him.

I felt that there were stretches last season where Millsap quit on the team and didn't play all out...he's not exactly the same hard working, blue collar player he was when he first came onto the league. Seems as though he lost his fire...

Let me clarify, the odds of actually winning the lottery and ending up in the top 3 are dramatically different between 7 and 12.

Having a higher pick is never less desirable.

PLEASE NO!!! let sap go pls.....so over rated by Jazz ball lickers....sorry but he is never going to be more than a good role player. not worth anywhere near the money he thinks he deserves...

I am totally against this. If we sign Millsap he will be starting no matter what. Corbin will start him for sure over Kanter. Kanter right now is a better Rebounder and defender. He has a better post game also. Millsap has a better outside shot and is better at passing and slashing but I don't want to sacrifice the chemistry of Kanter and Favors. They need to play together.

And also Millsap will want a 4 year deal. He will be in his 30's for the last few years of contract. Millsap relies on his quickness and agility to beat people right now. That is going to take a huge dive really quick and he will become Udonis Haslem but not as aggressive. But will be getting much more than he should. If he was 2 years younger I would say yes. But I can promise you that Millsap only has 2 more years of being effective. Than he will become a 11-12 point scorer to go with 7 rebounds a game. And we will be paying him 10 million a year to do that. Let him go!

Short PF's don't do very well in the later parts of their careers unless they are power players. Millsap should be let go he is not a power player he is all agility. I don't want him.

who cares who starts it aint important.

if kantr favors sap get 30-35 iminutes each adnd some scrub getting 10 minutes. thats a good rotation.

go with the hot hands between the 3 in the 4th down the stretch
problem is conbin is retared. he played kanter and illsap 17 straight minutes in 4th and ot while favors was close to a 20-20.
stupid **** like that is what is holding this team back.

with managed rotation millsap kanter favors is a beastly lineup no matter who starts

The Jazz should explore a sign-and-trade with Millsap so that he goes to a team he likes, and the Jazz get something worthwhile back, if at least a TPE, like they got with the Boozer-to-Chicago deal.

Ok in that case I would tend to agree. BTW 1 year of tanking (what I call players development), is more than worth it for a chance at Wiggins/Jabari.

I am going to say that I hope Paul goes elsewhere. I felt that he didn't give his full effort last season at times. I also hate looking at his "I just ate a lemon" face when a call doesn't go his way. Let him go.
