I'd be more open to the idea of the playoffs if it was the young guys getting us there...I just don't trust that Corbin will give any of them significant minutes other than Hayward, so we'll basically just be giving playoff experience to a bunch of vets that probably won't be on the team in a few years anyway...seems like a big waste if you ask me, especially considering the depth of talent in the 2012 draft that we would miss out on.

it would be nice to get the picks this year because most likely next year they will be a lot worse. Somewhere in the 19-23 range
 
I think that Jazz fans were spoiled by too many years of Stockton to Malone, Sloan, and mediocre achievements. Its only natural that some of us give off a negative vibe towards the Jazz when they started to suck. I love the Jazz and players, but the coaching on the other hand is a different story sometimes. I put myself in check by reminding myself that Ty is rookie and its a shortened season, not to mention how extremely difficult it may be dealing with chemistry. Some people on here have VERY SMART arguments I enjoy reading. Overall, I thought the win streak we had recently was very fun and I know the Jazz have it in them if the players put their minds to it. I thought last season was a success when we smashed the Lakers at home and Denver. If the Jazz went .20, but swept the Lakers and Nuggets I would consider the season a success haha Go Jazz! XD

Losing the pick this year instead of next year could work out fine, but I think the odds are greatly in favor of it being much more valuable to the team to lose it next year. First off, I think most of us like to believe that the team will be better next year. It's also widely believed that this draft will be considerably stronger than next year's, so we're talking about a lesser pick in a weaker draft. Regardless of how it's used, I think we likely lose a lot of value on the pick itself.

In all honesty, assuming we used it on a rookie, then it's always possible that we could blow the pick this year, when maybe we could have gotten a steal the next year in a weaker draft. A higher pick in a stronger draft obviously doesn't guarantee anything when we're talking about using it on a rookie. If we're talking about using it in a trade, however, you can definately say that it would represent greater value to the team, and more importantly, greater value added a year earlier.

If Utah can hold on to the GS pick, then losing our own pick won't sting quite so much, but I still think our best case scenario is keeping both picks. I don't even really care so much how they're used. The trade value of those two picks alone, or added to one of our guys makes me giddy in anticipation of what this team could do next year.

Two would be great, though, cause then you can swing for the fences with one pick and not worry too much if it doesn't pan out, cause you still had a safer pick.
