My starting 5 consists of former Finals MVPs Tony Parker and Dirk Nowitzki.
Both combine massive experience and most likely will take care of a game on the line late in the 4th quarter.
My main offensive punch is playing the screen and roll/pop between the 2 and with the rest serving as role players.
J.R. Smith will play the strong corner and while I've got Andre Iguodala aka Scottie Pippen light waiting on the weakside wing.
If I can't make a play happen Tony P is the man who will keep the play alive and Iguodala rotating to the top is going to redistribute the ball to play an isolation with Dirk from the elbow. This strat also prevents transition offense. Iguodala is one of the best transition defender and he'll be my backbone if something goes wrong in that situation.
Splitter will open the driving lane by staying on the weak side.
He can also serve as the roll man, where he's extremely strong at timing his movement so the ballhandler can utilize a hole to split the D. That's what I do when I have Tony Allen on the court to let Dirk stretch the court off the ball on the weak side corner to prevent any possibility for a big help defender.
My team plays extremely unselfish and smart as all of my players are good and willing at passing the ball.
It's just an all around effort. I've got a perfect mix to play simple but efficient sets to force double teams and make the defense collapse or play isolation plays with my big guy who can put the ball on the floor like no other 7 footer.
On defense I'll rely on quick help rotations with my 3 athletic wings. 2 are the best wing and iso defender in the league and J.R. Smith isn't too shabby either, as he wasn't a liability in New York's efficient and switch heavy defensive concept last year. There's reports about how he has increased his effort on defense and displays strong weak side helps. In fact New York was 3.4 Points / 100 Possessions stronger defensively with him on the court than not!
My team can counterplay spycam's outside shooting with strong defense on the wings. Inside I have one of the best iso defender with his impressive footwork taking the thunder away from Marc Gasol and every point that David Lee scores on Dirk, Dirk scores 2 on him on the other end of the floor.
Aside from Gasol he doesn't have another good passer and that will ultimately break his neck. My help rotations and strong individual wing defense won't allow him to excel the way he wants to. They'll stay in front of their assignments and won't need double teams before coming close to the basket.
That's an easy 4-1 victory for me.
I want to add that the accusations of lack of spacing are not true.
Parker shot 36% on a low number of attempts. But when he's left open in the corner on a 2nd rotation or playing off Dirk, he can hit them.
My STARTING SG J.R. Smith hit 36% as well on 5.5 attempts / game.
Dirk shot 41.5% last season and Iggy hit 48% in the playoffs on 4.8 attempts. His last value in Philly was 39% in the regular season, that sunk to 32% in the regular this year, but that's for being on a new team. This number rose over the duration of the regular season after being served not properly at the beginning and in the end he drilled the open shots.
And that's all I need him to do. Hit the open one and if the close-out is fast, taking him off balance and dunk it at the rim with authority.
This game is not even close. Everyone who knows a thing or two will agree.
Marc Gasol's DPOY he can shove up his ***. There's no helping on players like Dirk and if you leave Spitter open he'll find a passing lane to score a deuce. And the heck I'm going to play isos via splitter. Not happening! Gasol also can't guard Dirk to switch assignments.
The game is so easy, even if my 3s aren't falling I have 2 big time mid range scorer with Dirk and Parker to punish clogging the paint. Parker scores 45% of his midrange tries. That's elite together with his 66% near the basket.
