How have I missed this thread?

Anyone wanna to read a steampunk book?

It has taken me a while to realize that nobody wants to watch/listen to Rammstein in the "Best Song" thread, just like nobody will ever want to read "steampunk".

The sooner you let it go, the better off you'll be.

Just finished Under the Dome! It's really thick, but an easy read. Doesn't take long at all to get through it. Pretty good book, I certainly enjoyed reading it.

Now I got about 150 pages left in Invisible Man. Completely different type of novel, and it'll take about as much time to read the last 150 pages as reading about 300 pages of Under the Dome.

Not sure where I'm gonna go after this, but I think I might hang up the recreational reading while I immerse myself in textbooks and pursue learning an additional language.

Hmmm, I thought the "Leather Head" **** was annoying and cliche. Enjoyed it right up until that part -- just like Dreamcatcher.

iawtp

The whole story itself was a very enjoyable read. But yes, the ending was kinda annoying. Not that unique of a concept tbh. Probably pretty hard to come up with something that lives up to the rest of the story though, but he is a professional writer.

Insomnia never failed to put me to sleep. I never did finish it.

Ya it wasnt his best work..... but the tie in to dark tower was pretty cool

Dreamcatcher lost me at **** weasels, just way too cheesy and silly, imo. Also, I thought the whole duddits thing was very over-wrought. I like that he can be so colloquial, it can really bring the reader into the story, but it can be very overblown, and I think it all too often sounds better in his head than it does on paper.

Wasn't a fan of Dome. Felt too much like he was just reworking characters from other stories and throwing them together in a new, but not really that new, setting. And the TV show adaptation has been horrendous. I suffered through the first season but cannot bring myself to watch any more. I kept hoping it would get better and it just got suckier and suckier.

I do, on both accounts.
