That book has it all. Illuminatti, Freemasons, Rosocrucians, Jesuits, The Vatican's obsession with aliens, Pope Francis, Transhumanism, Osiris, Isis, Apollo, Applloyon, Angles, Demons, etc. Of course it was good.

Is it a fiction?

I went to one of the Masonic Lodge meetings down here a few weeks ago; pretty damn cool, tbpfhwy. Didn't see a single alien or sacrifice a single goat.

I would say it's not any less non-fiction than financial books that predict something. He's weaving a narrative based on real things, real beliefs of those secret societies, real people, current events(when he authored it in 2013), some prophetic works, history, and saying....this is what's really going on in the world. He predicted that pope Benedict XVI would resign about a year before he did in one of his other books.....which was pretty outlandish considering it basically never happens....especially in the modern era. But it did. He's pretty good at reading tea leaves.

right now I'm reading Somerset Maugham and Graham Greene - so it doesn't necessary have to be a current author - - just looking for ideas for when it's my turn to pick a book (March)

Bae, listen. I get it. I get tired of hearing about all the sci-fi and PA genre novels that people think are great too. I also enjoy a literary novel once in awhile. Which is exactly why I think you should try Station Eleven. It's well-written, it's thoughtful, it's good. Give it a chance. I think you'd like it!

hmmm.... 2014 National Book Award finalist, and I've never read anything by this author (Emily St. John Mandel) so I think I'll give it a try...

probably a bit of a wait to get it from the library so I'd better put my name on the list now!

Haha great! Sorry if i seemed excessively animated in my last post. I hope you like it! For what its worth, the best book Ive ever read is "A visit from the Goon Squad". Its not Sci Fi or Post Apocalyptic but hits all the right notes!
 
Finally finished this last night:

Sucked. I read that it was supposedly Murakami's version of Orwell's 1984 so I was expecting greatness. It was just weird and not good typical Murakami weird.

Agreed. Just reread The Windup Bird Chronicles to get the stench out.

I've started A Brief History of Seven Killings by Marlon James recently (https://www.amazon.com/Brief-History-Seven-Killings-Novel/dp/159448600X). Not too far in yet but i's very good so far. Maybe I'll post more about i later when I get further in.
 
Im reading 'the book of strange new things' by michel faber. Its about a christian minister that travels to another galaxy to spread the word of god to its inhabitants. It also follows his relationship with his wife and how his marriage endures such an infathomable distance. Faber is a talented writer, his description is some of the best ive read but the plot doesnt move along quickly. Id recommend it to anyone who loves literary fiction. Less so to lovers of genre.
