Jefferson thinks Sloan can unleash the ‘Beast' that's been in him for "so long"

You all like to get hung up on small *** details and then dedicate the whole discussion to arguing over such small details. Never looking for the big picture in someone's message. Get ur heads out ur arses

Well, Lance, ya know, sometimes it's the details that cloud up the "big picture." I think I now have a good sense of where Box was comin from, for example, but that was far from clear to me given his original statement (which he himself said may not have embodied the "best choice of words').

Who cares where he was coming from? Its not always about making friends or peace with someone else here. I'm not trying to relate to you. Just say my two cents.

Well, mebbe you don't care where he's "coming from." But I was simply responding your statement about trying to understand someone's "message" by "looking for the big picture," which seemed to indicate that you were recommending that you thought understanding was important. Apparently you don't. Mebbe you just like telling people to get their head out of their asses, even if that's where you have yours, eh?

You should use the ignore feature for "CarolinaJazz" and "Ain'tNuthin," err "Hopper" and you'll probably be a lot happier.

...yeah, but then he'd be missing out on some of the most insightful, perceptive and entertaining thoughts on NBA basketball as it's presently displayed today!

as well as some great entertainment and comedy at times

Look yo, hopper and even CJ speak from a platform of high intelligence......For example, CJ hates "hoppers", not because they're black or 'hood' or whatever, but because of their general disrespect, their attitude, their ego.. skin color has NOTHING to do with it. White people, black people, asian people.. just because you read the words and associate it with a certain race.. well that is just on you as a person. The term "hopper" in these circumstances is meant to connotate a Lebron James type of attitude.. a sense of entitlement, a reckless form of basketball which does not result in wins, or ever good basketball. It comes down to positivity, zen, etc. If people are on board, not about showboating.. that's all they want, you know?

...frankly, I personally wouldn't classify Lebron as a true blue "hopper!" He wants to and does involve his teammates to a large degree, as his assist totals indicate, but with the cast of guys he had in Cleveland, there were times when he tried to do it all himself and succeeded most of the time, although it eventually catches up with you when the competition gets serious! I like Lebron! Yeah, he's got tats and hopper tendencies, but by and large....he's a pretty decent guy that hasn't done anything really indecent that I can think of! I think he's faster, bigger and stronger than Michael Jordan and will break all of his statistical records before it's over! Now, Allen Iverson? THAT is stone cold HOPPER!

I am half black half white. Spent 8 yrs in Utah at hill airforce base as a kid thru highschool.

.....I'm white, married to a black woman, born in the North, moved to the South, love people of all races, but don't cotton to hopper types, if you know what I mean!

The so-called "hip-hop" culture probably did start, or at least become more widespread at first, in the black community. Even so, it really has nuthin to do with "race" per se, and many whites have adopted that "culture" as their own--as CJ might put it, wearin caps crooked, pants down to their knees, and generally actin as disrepectful of "normal" society as possible. Blacks like Cosby condemn it too.

....you got that right! You walk into my business looking for a job with your hat on crooked, pants to the ground and a tattoo on the side of your neck....you ain't get hired, bubba! By the way, "Long haired hippie people....need not apply" either!!!

I agree with Box, Al Jefferson is ghetto because he's really dark and, therefore, we suspect he's dumber than he sounds. So I think he should stop sounding smart and sound dumb like he actually is. I think Box said it better than I could ever say it: "he shoudl stop tryin to sound inteliggent". I got you on this one Box. Thanks for reading.

He really needs to stop trying to speak proper. It makes him sweat a damn mess all over the place. This dude is Ghetto, but I could care less as he has passion and desire and he will be a beast this year.

You guys really need to cut out the talk about "ghetto-boy" and "Mississippi". Just because someone grew up in a southern state or a poor neighborhood, does not make them stupid.

Who suggested any such thing? Other than you, I mean?

Hopper, I think Hipporipp's comment was a reaction to Box's comment about "stop trying to speak proper". Learning to speak properly is a skill that requires some intelligence, although lack of that skill is not a sign of a lack of intelligence. I do think Box should not worry so much about Jefferson's attempts to speak one way or the other.

I firmly believe anyone who saw my post as racisit is from Utah. If not from Utah some othercrappy place with no diversity. Quit being so damn sensitive.

I grew up in a mixed-race, mixed income government housing project (Laclede Town, for those nterested), and I found your comments mildly racist.

KhaOZ, take all the time you want and I will bet you that you can't find CJ criticizing anyone because they are "not white." He don't like tattoos, true dat, but he don't like them on nobuddy. He don't like "hoppers," but that aint synonomous with black people. It seems to me that the ones who call CJ "racist" put much more emphasis on, and make more stereotypical assumptions about, race and racial differences than CJ ever has.

CarolinaJazz doesn't criticize people directly because they are of a specific skin color, but he does focus on irrelevant cultural aspects (such as tattoos) to make judgements and he does tend to associate those aspects with specific skin colors. So, I think the charge of racism is acurate, even though the reasons is it typically used seem to be inaccurate. Even broken clocks are right twice a day.

well I don't know about anybody else, but I understood AJ perfectly well. If you'd like to interpret that to mean that I have poor language skills, so be it. At any rate, I think it's great that Al Jefferson is looking forward to coming to Utah, playing for Coach Sloan and being teammates with D-Will. Whatever else we may disagree on in his statement, I think we'd agree that he sounds enthusiastic about the upcoming season, and that's wonderful to hear!
