Jefferson thinks Sloan can unleash the ‘Beast' that's been in him for "so long"

Some posters round this here joint (S2, where are ya?) seem to worry 24/7 because they don't think Jerry knows how to "relate" to selfish, lazy, candyass players like Meech and Girichuck. Even if that's true, like, who cares, eh? And what else would ya expect? The players who want to work hard, want to be pushed, want to play better defense, etc. (Bell and Jefferson for just two recent examples, Stockton and Malone from days past) WANT to play for a coach like Sloan. And who better to have on your team, I ax ya? A squad fulla Meechs and Chucks? I don't think so! Homey don't play dat.
Well, Aint, the problem is that it is difficult to fill a team with players who have self-motivation and/or are already developed/mature/into the team concept. IMHO, what makes a great coach is one who can instill those things. How much credit should a coach get for being able to integrate players who are low maintenance?

That being said, kudos to Sloan for having a reputation to lure players such as AJ and Bell (for a second time). But speaking of candyass, he didn't insist on Boozer or Okur playing defense, and I don't see anything impressive about the rate that he developed the likes of CJ and Fes. Development is a partnership between coach and player, but the coaches have to do their parts. Add to that the numerous alienations that Sloan has racked up (Giri, AK, Meech, Arroyo, etc.), and Sloan is a big meh in that human relations department, too.

You are obviously a VERY stupid person. Besides that you are just stupid, maybe in your small whacked out town you have not come to realize that Ghetto is the meaning of many things. FO

Actually, it has a very specific meaning, friend.

Tough guy from the Ghetto, huh. Sucks to be you dumb ***

So... I say "you know me how?", and that some how translates into I'm pretending to be some tough guy from the ghetto, and that I'm a dumb ***? Your deductive skills are amazing there sherlock.

Just curious though. Why do you feel the need to bring this to insults? Why lower ourselves? No one was directly trashing you, so why react in this way? I'm not trying to hate, I'd just like to know what it is you feel I did to offend you.

You do have a bit of a point. I was at the horse tracks over the weekend and was having a conversation with one of the horse trainers about his horse that was running. He was talking about how they switched jockeys and was explaining how a good jockey is like a good basketball coach. That they can take someone (or in this case a horse) with a lot of skill, and challenge them and push them an extra mile to bring out even more.

I'm not saying Sloan is or isn't that kind of Coach, I'm just agreeing that a great coach can take good players and push them to be even better.

Look, I could care less if you are from the Bario, ghetto or cherry hills. Fact is posters on this board are so damn sensitive because of legit racist on this board. The word Ghetto is commonly used amongst MANY people and it is common. Sorry to put you on blast, **** like this just pisses me off.

I can see where Hipporippo is coming from jumping to that conclusion...Just look at all the racist stuff CJ blurts out on this forum on a regular basis. Acting as if anyone who's not white or has tattoos is some second hand citizen who isn't worth a damn and shouldn't be respected.

KhaOZ, take all the time you want and I will bet you that you can't find CJ criticizing anyone because they are "not white." He don't like tattoos, true dat, but he don't like them on nobuddy. He don't like "hoppers," but that aint synonomous with black people. It seems to me that the ones who call CJ "racist" put much more emphasis on, and make more stereotypical assumptions about, race and racial differences than CJ ever has.

All good. It is a sensitive subject for many, no doubt.

Well, S2, ya know, I remember that there one time where my Mama, she said: "Looky here, hopper-boy, ya can't go puttin 10 pounds of crap into no 5 pound bag, eh? Remember that, boy."

That may or may not be true. I honestly don't pay that close attention to him, and perhaps shouldn't have called him out like that. I just know his reputation from seeing how others respond to him and maybe made some assumptions of his use of the word "hoppers." I more come here for info on the Jazz than the temperament of interracial tolerance amongst the people of Utah or Jazz fans, so I can't say I've closely watched the discussions or participated in any till now. I do admit though that I could be off base with the CJ remark.

EDIT: One more note. I did mention earlier that I include myself in the statement about people needing to be more understanding and tolerant. Just making light of that if in-fact CJ is just misunderstood.

EDIT2: I also have to mention that I've always assumed his use of "hoppers" meant hip-hop types, which in my mind some how tied back around to minorities in general. Not saying my assumption is right or anything.
