I don't think it holds much water. Duncan, Ginobli, Parker have slowed down, but have partially made up for it with the chemistry of playing together for 10+ years. The superstar team of Howard, Harden, and Melo would annihilate us for many years. Woe to the GM who makes the blunder of taking on Lin or Asik.
Utah isn't going to be championship caliber competitive for at least another 3 years. Houston's window with a 30+ melo would be about 3 years. Timing works out great. I still have a hard time believing that stat-loving Mowry would want low efficiency stat-stuffing Melo, unless her already has a plan to make Melo more efficient and effective
