Jimmer in action

7-10 FG - 19 points - 1 rebound - 1 steal - 4 assists - 1 TO - through 3 quarters. Impressive and playing good defense

Awesome.

Jimmer showing that he can really play in this league. I don't understand why more people on this board don't like him. Are we letting the ol Utah vs BYU nonsense cloud our opinions on Jimmer?

I don't know why more people don't like these types of players. WE have so many Kobes, Lebrons, Melos, Amares, Vince Youngs, DeSean Jacksons, Terrel Owens, etc in pro sports. It's refreshing to me to see guys like Jimmer and Tebow have success while still providing the role models that our society so desperately lacks right now. Guys that are making it bigtime in their professions yet maintain their integrity, humility, and work ethic. I wish those types of players the most success possible.

IN other news, duron williams had another crappy shooting night, with tons of turnovers... I don't think he's that good. When he's on, he's on. But he still turns the ball over so much. 4-12, 9 points, 6 turnovers, in 27 minutes. Not good enough for max money IMO... I think I'd much rather have a less explosive (and volatile) PG but someone that can actually control the ball and run the offense without giving the other team a fast break.

Jimmer baby! Looking good. I knew he would be a good pro. It's official.

Tim Tebow 2.0 because their is a lot of similarities. Both hated on by a lot of people. Both unconventional. Both very polite religious men. Both will have a lot better pro careers than the haters thought. Both are white with dark hair. Both are about 6'2". Ummm both possess unique skill sets. Both are media sensations. Their names are similar, Jim and Tim. Eh? Pretty good so far huh? Both believe in Jesus. Both are becoming my favorite athletes. And they both like chicken. I could go on and on. But i'll leave some for others.

I propose we make a thread just about Tebow and Jimmer Similarities

I watched the game last night. I found it funny that nobody on GSW knew how to guard Jimmer; I think he got more open looks last night than during his entire senior season at BYU. But every one knew about his rep for lack of defense. It seemed like every time he was on D someone was trying to get an iso on him.

All in all I thought he did very well , hit all his open shots, came off screens and created space well, made some good entry passes and hung in their on D despite getting absolutely schooled by Monta Ellis a couple of times and Klay Thompson.

How about his shot chart, what did that look like? Was he getting inside a lot, or was it mostly jumpers? I don't know why ESPN.com's shot charts don't work on my computer.

Jump shots. He made 7 shots, 4 of them were threes, he had a little 15 foot baseline pull up on Curry, a little runner in the lane from about 8 feet and beat Curry under the basket and they found him for little one handed layup. I'd say his four missed shots were all long jumpers. The Kings - especially the guards - are a bunch of chuckers. This season is going to be a challenging one for Jimmer, IMO.

He displayed some nice passing during the game. I think he led the team in assists with 4 or 5. Had some really nice passes to the interior when he would get doubled out at the perimeter.
It's funny how much he calls for the ball on each possession. I bet his teammates find that really annoying.

I thought Jimmer played pretty well. THe Kings need to stop the T. Evans at point guard experiment. Jimmer did get burned on defense a lot but so did the other guys guarding Curry and Ellis. However, he did adjust and seemed to stay in front of his guy. The Kings are bad though. They have a lot of talent but they do not play as a team. GS looked really good. I think they are going to be fighting for the playoffs so we should get their pick but it won't be as high as we first thought.

Probably because you are allowing your hate for DW to get in the way of being objective. Jimmer will have bad games too. It is preseason so I would n't get too concern either way. I think there are probably people who can't get past their own personally bias so they hate on Jimmer, besides the fact that BYU people worship him as though as he is JC himself is pretty annoying to say the least.

Just watched the game on DVR. I thought Jimmer did a nice job letting the game come to him. Only got burned a couple times by Ellis and Curry and did a surprisingly good job on baseline help defense. The biggest problem Jimmer will have this year is that the other Kings guards have no idea how to pass the ball, especially Thornton. I saw at least 4 possessions where Thornton chucked up a forced shot when Jimmer was wide open. Also a little shocked Jimmer played as much as he did. It looked to me like the 3 free throws he missed were due to fatigue.
