Jimmy Buckets gonna get MAX. Tobias Utah Bound?

I may be misremembering but there were not many teams (or any) with space. So I think there was a very limited market.

You are correct though Booze had established his value and was sought after. Memo was a speculative overpay on a bench third big from a stacked team.

I think we have a great shot at Tobias...

Boozer became available late in the process, which is why I think Cleveland thought he didn't have many options when they released him. I am fairly certain if we hadn't snapped up Boozer, Denver would have. They got Kenyon Martin after we dropped interest in him.

If Harris goes to Brooklyn, doesn't that basically free up Russell as in they won't have the ability to match a Russell offer?

Potentially. The issue is the caphold tied to retaining matching rights. I think they have one max slot either way. If they want two, D-Lo is for sure out.

Tobias Harris could be what Hayward was supposed to be.

If Philly prioritizes Jimmy Butler, it (hopefully) provides an opening. While others are busy chasing the tier one guys, the Jazz should go after Harris like a tier one guy.

Hopefully, the combination of being a playoff team on the cusp of contending, having a clear need for a guy like him and plenty of cap space will be enough to sell him on it. We’ll see.

Dream scenario is that KD and Kyrie go to Brooklyn. That would mean we'd have a very very good shot at either Harris or Russell

It also needs to be mentioned that Boozer was from Alaska for ****’s sake and his favorite player was Malone. That, with Sloan here, was a much easier sell.

It was literally that we were the highest bidder and no other reason imo.

A power forward should have WANTED to play in Sloan's system (Kenyon Martin did), especially after being told he was a complementary player in Cleveland's system. There is a lot of similarities to fit with Harris here in Utah. He will get a ton of open looks and will be encouraged to take them. The Jazz need him to score 20+ a night and will move the offense to get him there. Not sure any of our competitors outside of Indiana do that for him. I know Philly won't. Dallas, maybe, but they are going to go through some growing pains for a couple of years, and you have to depend on Porzingas staying healthy.

Denver at least had a lot of space and signed Kenyon Martin after we got Boozer. They would have at least matched what we paid Boozer. We won't know because Boozer was already signed before anybody knew he was on the market. Also, I forgot that Boozer had already been named to the Olympic team before he signed with the Jazz.

you reckon ? I mean i'm still not super optimistic but if the reports are that he doesn't want to go back to Philly are true we have some kind of small chance. I'd assumed he'd re-up with Philly until now
Do you have a link to that? Haven’t come across it yet.
