Joel Bolomboy HYPE THREAD

I hope he's vastly improved next year, for his sake. If not he's easily replaceable, flying meatball types of bigs are more common than you'd think and there's IMO better specimins in this upcoming draft (that'll get drafted much higher than Bolomboy did, and are several years younger). The price is right tho, and there's no reason to judge him on this years play.. Ideally he shows more next year, and the year after, can't ask for anything more at his paygrade.

I tried to watch him close tonight to see if he had potential as a defensive stopper. Hes quick and athletic, just has all the tools to be good on that end. He's still got so much to learn and Quin heads to coach him up some more. He seemed to be out of position at times. If he figures this out, I see potential for him as that second defensive stopper next to Gobert.

Hes raw as ****, but you can see the skills. Time on the court will help. Time to let Withey go to Europe, and invest in Joel.

I just can't believe that 3pt% in the D-League translates. That 3pt shot looks so ugly. Plenty of players have shot great 3pt% on high volume from deep in the D-League and hasnt translated to the NBA. Chris Johnson and Elijah Millsap come to mind. Both shot pretty well from deep in the D-League. Elijah had a year where he shot 40% and over 120 shots in a D-League season.

Also wish Bolomboy didnt flub his combine measurements to inflate his vertical. Really interested as to what his true standing reach is.

I see what I saw when I first saw him in SL, a young Mailman, and everyone ridiculed me then.

As you should have been. Last night's game does nothing to that woefully ridiculous position.

That being said, I always liked Bolomboy and wasn't never really sure why he wasn't getting any burn. Kid can play, he's got attitude and he usually makes the right decision on the court.

I love Bolomboy... Not sure why he hasn't been given more of a shot. Moves well on defense... great rebounder. If he can shoot that is a bonus to me. I see him as a 30-35% guy out there long term. If he's wide open shoot it.

He seems to be out of position a lot, on offense and defense, but that stuff comes with playing time. Seems to have a good motor to make up for some of his mental lapses.
