Jonas just earned a ton of money due to one game. He has averaged 3.8 points per game all season. He shoots at 34% from the three and is supposed to be a stretch 4. He plays sub par most of the season barring a few games, shows up for 1 game and gets under the Cavs skin, and he has suddenly earned his way back into the NBA again last year. I mean, take away that last game and he would potentially be fighting for a roster spot against this deep draft. Instead, I bet he gets an albatross contract from some hosers. Jonas for $3 million is about as much as he is worth and I think he could fill the role on the defensive side to stop stretch fours (something we are lacking). He could fit. But, anything more than $4 million would be silly.
And for those who say the league pays more... gotta pay more... overpay and pick him up...
Just remember that last year Solomon Hill (who?) was declined by the Pacers for a $1 million team option, signed with the Pelicans for $44 million and the same bunch desperately wanted him. Instead, we picked up Joe Johnson for 2 years, $22 million.
Year Team GP Min Pts FG% 3pt% Reb Ast Stl Blk
2016 Jazz 78 23.6 9.2 43.6 41.1 3.1 1.8 0.5 0.2
2016 Peli 80 29.7 7.0 38.3 34.8 3.8 1.8 0.9 0.4
More minutes, 2.2 fewer points, 5% lower shooing percentage, 6% lower 3Pts, similar reb and assists, slightly more steals... but who would every NBA team want on their squad? It's not even close. Joe Jesus baby!
Don't overspend on Jonas. For the right price, perhaps, but I would rather pay Donatas Motiejunas than Jonas Jerebko. Similar players, but DM probably comes cheaper and has a higher ceiling.
