What's new

Josh Howard out for season!!

This may end up good for us next season. Most likely we will not be resigning CJ and hopefully we will be shipping out Raja in the offseason. Most teams will be hesitant to sign Howard after this knee surgery and we could sign him to another cheap 1 year deal. He could really help us get to the playoffs next year.

I just wish the Jazz didn't sign vets like Howard and got rid of Bell this season and let the young guys play and develop. Then we'd get our draft pick, as well, though still might. We should be rebuilding and not worrying about the playoffs this year. I think playoff experience is overrated, at least first round. If the guys are ready, they will perform. The Jazz aren't going anywhere this year, so let's get them ready next year and thereafter, and get that draft pick.

For those celebrating his injury **** you. Hope he recovers quickly and everything goes well in the surgery.

I feel terrible for Howard. It was nice to see the Jazz actually have a SF that knew how to play the position. Howard rebounded well, cut to the basket well, he even posted up. It was a nice change after years of watching AK.

I go back through this thread and it doesn't seem like anyone is exclusively happy that howard is hurt, yet i see alot of people saying "**** you to all the people who are happy he is hurt.

For me i never wished for him to be injured and i would have liked to see burks and hayward get more minutes in a different way, but this i what happened.
Sucks for howard (who like everybody said seems like he turned his bad behavior around and has been a professional) but its good for people who wanted to see the young guys more (which is like 95% of jazzfanz). I am one of that 95% who wanted to see the young guys more so i am happy.
We can be happy for our viewing pleasure of getting to watch the young guys more ( which is what we wanted) while still feeling sad/sorry for josh howard.

No way to tell. Howard was a good defender, good defensive rebounder and a hard worker..... but he was a chucker who shot a bad percentage and was kind of a black whole.
And he was pretty bad a running a fast break.
So to answer the question, it will depend on how good CJ, Hayward, Burks, Bell, and Carrol step up thier games. We might be better now or we might be worse

SojoDave, you must be delusional if you prefer Howard, as he played this year, over AK -- when, even in his worst year, did AK ever shoot 39-22?

What bothered me about Howard was his horrible shot selection. And he killed a lot of rallies by missing wide open shots. Yes, he did some good veteran things, but I would rather have seen Burks getting the minutes.

I was disappointed with Howard overall, though he showed some flashes of goodness. Hopefully he can make a recovery and go forward, but on the bright side we'll see some of the other guys get more time.
