What's new

Game Thread Jul 08, 2025 07:00pm: Thunder Vs Jazz (Summer League)

Added to Calendar: 07-08-25

We’ll see about that. I imagine that Will and Ace and possibly Keyonte will have something to say about that. Collier was the top High School recruit in the Country, WCJ was just the tournament sweetheart in his Senior year.

Yep and I’m a pretty good judge of talent and ability! Truth is, I love the guy whether he starts or comes off the bench! In my mind, and Aces, he’s twice the player WCJ is.

You forgot the /S

Clayton looks more mature with his game than our younger guys. And he should. He’s 1 year and 7 months older than Collier, for example. I’d be surprised if Collier isn’t our starting point guard all next season.

I don’t think Collier’s game is suited for Summer League. I think he’ll be much better in the regular team. I am concerned with the fact his ft shooting seems worse. He swished his first two of summer league but has missed at least one since in every trip back.

I do expect him to start the season as the starter. Even Mitchell didn’t start his rookie season as the starter. I don’t expect WCJ to begin as a starter right off the bat.

He will be. His decent plays last year earned him that.

But after 10 games if it’s clear that WCJ is better, it wouldn't surprised me if he gets pulled.

Collier is a good dude, and he plays hard, but him not being able to shoot is major kinkkk in his game.

Would you start an indy car race with just 3 wheels?

Just tuned in after our final exams. The 3-0 streak is nice! But could someone kindly explain why Tonje and Luis and the other guys didn't even play a minute in the three games?

Tonje = injured

None of our young guys have four wheels yet.

I worry a bit, until he proves me wrong, just because of his size. It's not clear that he'll be able to get his shots against NBA defenders.
He got his shots off against Houston in a championship environment. That was far more emblematic of who he is that a Summer League game.

Everyone is reading too much into summer league performance. What happens in summer league stays in summer league.

We know what Collier can do. Can't stress about how he's played in these games.

The one takeaway we have from SLC Summer League is that we're lucky Bailey fell to us. Dude is going to be a stud.
The other Summer League certainty we have is that moving up to 18 and not settling for what fell to us at pg was a pretty good move.

I see Collier spending 2 years coming off the bench while trying to develop his jumper.

I hope he gets it..

But if we’re gonna start him and everyone else gets frustrated while he bricks shots after shots after shots, that’s not fair to the other players neither.
