Burke had a roughing shooting day, but that will come around. I don't judge any player at summer league. I didn't forget how poorly Kanter played last summer. Yes he was out of shape, but he proved it was nothing to judge by.

Really? Kanter did pretty good except in the first game and despite being out of shape that time.

He averaged 10.4 PPG / 8.8 RPG / 1.4 APG / 1.2 SPG and 0.8 TPG in just around 25 minutes per game. He shot 50 percent from the floor and 67 percent from free throw line. He was pretty good.

So, what is everyone going to bitch about when Trey gets his feet under him, goes 5-12 with 15 pts, 5 assists, 7 rebounds and 2 TO's?

I complained that he looked slow and lacked explosiveness. If he still looks slow and lacks explosiveness I'll probably complain about that. I never once complained about his poor shooting.

Seriously? You're crazy if you believe this. I would hope that every single time my kid plays in a exhibition game, that if he sees someone go down, he tosses the ball away and helps the kid up. Killer instinct? You're nuts. There is a HUGE difference between hitting a big shot at the end of a game "killer instinct" and being a dick to other human beings "killer instinct". One makes you successful in life. The other makes you a dick.

I think we all interpreted it as you questioning Burke's killer instinct based on that play. What were you trying to say?

If you think you have a meaningful opinion on a players' strengths and weaknesses after watching one summer league game, you might as well apply for disability benefits.

Here are questions people should be asking:

- Are guys in shape?
- Are 2nd or 3rd year guys showing any improvement in areas they needed to work on, like Jeremy Evans with scoring and post defense?
- Are guys able to defend their position, or are they getting blown away?
- Are guys moving well and looking like they have any clue about what they're trying to do?

A few shots that go in or don't go in aren't a big deal, unless you have a situation where Jeremy Evans is draining 3s, or Gobert is dunking on everyone in sight. Trey Burke is one of the best shooters in the draft. I don't worry about him making shots at all.

Burke had a rough outing, no argument there. I think he learned he's going to have to make adjustments as his shots were swatted away several times. His defense was better than I expected, though. As NDY posted, his rebound and assist totals were good. He'll be just fine going forward. Three things I took out of today:

1) Alec Burks was playing PG when Burke first rested. That surprised me a bit. Perhaps the Jazz DO see Alec as a combo guard who can play the backup PG position.
2) Gobert is not quite as raw as I thought. Guy is going to be a solid rotation player going forward. He was a force around the rim and was coming out to set picks.
3) For the most part, the Jazz defense was very solid. I know it's just SL, but any improvement is encouraging.

Other players I thought had solid outings: Roberts, Christamas and Mahalbasic.
