Comparing Mitchell's iso defense (14 possessions) to Gobert's screen defense (72 possessions) would be like comparing a guy shooting 2/3 (1.3 points per possession) to a guy shooting 14/22 (1.27 points per possession).

It completely ignores volume, and therefore, impact on the game. It's moronic.

The Clippers offense as a whole has a 114.4 offensive rating this series when Gobert is on the court and a 143.8 offensive rating when he is off. For reference, the Clippers regular season offensive rating was a 116.7.

Gobert isn't getting "played off the court". The rest of our roster is barely hanging on defensively with him in the game, and just dies completely when he leaves it.

I like how when WC makes the moronic claim that the Clippers are targetting Gobert thus making him a liability, when I post the numbers that show the exact opposite, he initially tries to tell me 1 point allowed per possession is "extremely close" to 1.19 points allowed per possession (LMAO), and then, when it is pointed out to him that it's literally the difference between the worst and best offense in the NBA, he pretends he was talking about the offense as a whole, while also using Mitchell's 14 possessions defending in isolation as some kind of rebuttal.

If you think 1 point per possession and 1.19 points per possession are roughly the same, just step away from the argument. You have no clue what you're talking about.

I believe that Utah's deficiencies on defense in this series aren't because Gobert is being "targetted" or is a "liability", as morons would have you believe. He's having more success than anybody else on the team when he's targetted.

We're struggling on defense because the Clippers can get Gobert away from the rim, thus exposing the dreadful defense of our other players.

People here think Favors sucks on defense because our defense is garbage when he's in. The reality is Favors is a decent defender surrounded by dreadful defenders. Gobert is such a God-tier defender that he can cover for everybody else's deficiencies. Favors cannot.

Is 13 less points over 72 possessions from Rudy over a broken Favors that impressive? Especially with how bad everyone has said Favors has played this series.

I feel like a serviceable backup center could get that number way closer than that.
