What's new

just gonna lob this out there

explain how exactly is Gobert overrated?!!
I get what he is saying.
Some jazz fans think of Gobert as the same caliber as jimmy butler, kahwi Leonard, Anthony Davis, etc... In other words, a superstar.

I think we are much closer to winning via defense rather than trying to outgun the rest of the league, but I think this is an interesting topic to consider. Thanks for adding some interest to the board op.

It seems to me the Jazz have a lot riding on a lot of players eventually reaching their potential, while having two players that perform with any consistency (Hayward and Gobert). At some point, how good a player actually is needs to be considered, and the Jazz could use a player like Lillard in the worst way.

It's intriguing. But I doubt Portland seriously considers it.

Favors is pretty darn consistent, no? I feel like this year he was.

Why on earth would the jazz do this?

Favors is a year younger and has much more room for the growth (offensively) but even so he is already a top 5 two way Power Forward in the league. Exum is five years younger and has already shown he can be an elite defender at this level, whilst he has a lot of potential to become very good on offense, given his size and speed for the Point Guard position. Then you add two first round picks, which could be a pick as high as 10 if we fail to reach the playoffs.

So all that for Lillard who although very good offensively (especially in the clutch), is a very poor defender and is a ball stopper. So he doesn't fit the side Quin is trying to build.

I don't feel he is. Here are his points for the games he played: 26, 20, 18, 6, 6, 12, 17, 25, 5, 23, 18, 18, 11, 22, 23, 12, 35, 14, 20.

His rebounds fluctuate as well. He's not all that consistent.

That's only three games with less than 11 points and the first two were coming back from being ill so in actuality, he's had one legit game of under 11 points and while that may be a low benchmark for you, the flipside is Blake Griffin also had one game under 11 points, and Lamarcus Aldridge has had 8, yes 8 games under 11 points. We perhaps need Favors more than LA or San Antonio need the aforementioned players night in and night out but you get the point. I hope.

He's was playing like a superstar last year. He's not having as good of a year. He was legitimately one of the best defenders last year.

I believe in Gobert. He'll find some rhythm again.

Part of the problem is that the team still isn't trying to get Gobert involved in the offense. Which is a mistake I think. Maybe it's because we don't have good enough point guard play.

They don't try to get him the ball or he simply drops every pass that comes his way or has no offensive moves by the basket?
