Why has Donald Trump shown his darkest side these last few days?

He is energizing his base for the authoritarianism he hopes to bring about. And he is preparing his voters for complicity.

If you vote for Trump, you are voting for the candidate who wants "Hitler's generals" and calls Americans "the enemy within." If you vote for that, you bear the responsibility for the crimes to come. Please don't.

Most importantly, Trump is trying to demoralize the majority of Americans who do not want him to ever hold office again.

Trump is leveraging the traumas of the twentieth century. His Nazi talk is meant to set a dark tone for election day.
He wants Americans to be shocked and afraid. But we should be firm and hopeful. We should vote for the world we want to see.

Trump is showing us the enormous power we have. Horrible futures are possible, but only if we vote for them, or don't vote at all.

We have the power to hold off those futures. To prevent them from ever coming about.

Trump is a bully you can topple with your little finger.

Or at least with the hand that casts the vote. All we have to do is go to the polls. We can close the door to that darkness.

The problems that we face can be solved. Beautiful futures are also possible. They begin with the little miracle of voting.

We can open the door to the light.

Mostly, your tribe is made up of childless women and single mothers. That is the most reliable demographic for the Democrats. The Republicans have men generally, and women with kids in intact families. There are exceptions everywhere, but statistically speaking there is a realignment going on among the electorate and that is the general direction. There is a lot of inertia to voting preferences and many will continue to vote as they have until the day they die, but broadly that is where the data says we are headed. I am more than happy with my tribe.
 
You will never see a truly unifying ad/message from Donald Trump. The only America he recognizes is us vs. them. Donald Trump vs. “the enemy within”. He’s turned all those millions of Americans into “the other”, not truly American. Only his followers are “real Americans”. If you’re against Trump, you’re an enemy of the State, because Trump identifies himself with the State.

This was brilliant! She was cute, fun, and hilarious! Real Americans are tired of the vulgarity and negativity of Trump and MAGA. America doesn’t suck! It’s actually a really awesome place! And it’s got a roaring economy, amazing cities, and a fun culture full of diversity brought in by immigrants!

That Selzer poll was some much needed hopium.

Definitely feels like the momentum is with Kamala, or at least not with Trump right now. The bots are running interference as always, but just not seeing the enthusiasm, crowds, or polls I'd expect if Trump was about to take this thing.

That is a very interesting set of statistics if those numbers are true. Joe Biden won the popular vote by 4.4% in 2020. Kamala is leading by 3%. She is doing worse than Joe did by 1.3 percentage points. The internals show Kamala doing better among White Women by 8 points compared to Joe. They also show Kamala is doing better among White Men by 12 points as compared to Joe. She is doing better by 8 points and 12 points, but overall she is 1.3 percentage points worse. That means the non-White voters have turned against her so hard that they have more than wiped out any gains among White voters. It means Black and Brown voices are carrying Trump while Whitey is trying to keep them down by imposing Kamala. Now the Richard Spencer endorsement makes so much more sense. Good find Bawse Dawg!

Another day another trump speech where he’s “joking around” about having his political opponents killed. He’s joking guys he’s joking, relax, it’s so funny to joke around about the media being shot just like he was joking about Cheney being shot yesterday. It’s all joking!
