So I already know a lot of the posters are Kanter's fans, but from what I watched, Valanciunas also is an exceptional talent. I posted the videos in some other thread and posted again below:

I think comparing the two, Kanter's offense is much more polished with a good stroke and some post moves, but in the limited game films that are available, he seems to be slow moving around the court. Valanciunas does not have a post move to speak of, and I rare saw him taking any outside shot, but he seems to be more athletic, moving around the court well and has more defensive potential.

Let's say the experts are correct about the two's best case scenarios, Kanter will eventually become a Al Horford, and Valanciunas will become a Biedrins/Noah crossover (To me which means a Tyson Chandler... but it's just me), who would you rather have?

Kanter, because while he may never be an elite defender, I think Favors has the potential to and having a guy who can rebound, score in the post, and hit an outside jumper would seem to me to be the best pairing next to him.

Yeah I've heard the so called "experts" saying that as well.

But am I missing something? Horford doesn't have a 3pt stroke, let alone any outside game to speak of. I just looked it up and in his NBA career he took 14 three pointers, with a record of 3-11.

I'm not an NBA expert by any means but even I know that an inside-outside game is essential if you want to be a premium big in the NBA. Look at Nowitzki for example, defenders respect his 3pt shot so much he needs to be double team every time he's in iso.

To me the best case scenario for Kanter has to be Nowitzki.

I'll hop on the anti-Euro player bandwagon. You never know what you're getting-most of their games have been against goats.

valanciunas is also good, but he doesnt have the offensive skills as kanter, he doesnt have as much upside. And he will play in europe 1-2 yrs more i think. And i agree, Kanter is a much better fit to Favors than Valanciunas. Valanciunas fits better with Toronto Clevalnd or even Wizards

Yeah, JV still needs some time in Europe to bulk up more and work on his game but I think I'd take either one before Williams (my only question on Williams has been him at the 3, and after Locke's analysis my doubts there have increased). But actually, if they want JV they might be able to trade down to get him.

I'll be very disappointed if we take anyone other than Irving, Williams, Kanter, or Knight at #3. None of them are a sure thing all-star out the gate, but I see the best chance BY FAR for these 4 to become impact players.

Kanter sure is getting alot of run lately. The last time these two played against each other Kanter dominated (or so I've read) but JV was still growing up and filling out while Kanter's body was more mature. I'd like to see them match up again, too bad they can't play a little draft canidate 5-5 game on the days between finals games.

I'd love to see official measurements on these guys becasue JV looks longer and taller. JV also has a sweet smooth shot. The game (not highlights) I watched of JV he seemed rather rigid and mechanical but he defended and played the pnr well. I was suprised that he kind of blended into the game for long streches...the offense didn't go through him very often, and he didn't demand the ball or dominate it. Good hands, nice shot, rebounded well--but he was 3 inches taller than everyone.... few blocks, not a great jumper, nothing wowed me.

JV might've been a possibilty at 6, I could see him becoming the Big V to replace Ilgauskus in Cleveland, but I would be stunned if he were drafted by the Jazz at 3.

I'm glad I'm the only Jay-V supporter. I will rub it in all your faces in 5 years when he is the better player.
