What's new

**** Kanter

Good post Margo. There's a huge difference, also, in being the focal point of offense vs. having to try to force the issue because you may never get the ball again. I don't care what anyone says, the two biggest differences between the Nike Hoops Summit (which was not some freak accident like many like to characterize) and these past three games is;
- The rust
- Being 'asked' to dominate at one but asked to do nothing meaningful in the next

Those that think it was dumbed down competition are on crack (ok, maybe not literally) because there were 10 NBA players on the USA team and half of those are/will be lottery picks.

Neither guy will walk onto an NBA court and dominate immediately. In 3 years we have an answer, it is what it is. I hope they are both good.
Agree. Just look at Favors. Some on this site are anointing him the next superstar and he couldn't even get minutes ahead of Krissy Kardashian.
Favors and Kanter were both #3 picks based on their potential. Derrick took one full NBA season to begin to show why he was so highly regarded. I expect decent improvement the next year he plays, but it's going to take him 3-5 before he begins to establish what kind of player he'll really be. Kanter will follow the same learning curve. He'll have very modest numbers his first year and will look very much like a rookie (i.e. quick fouls and rushed shots). It will take a minimum of 3 years before he'd be an impact starter.

Going from Kentucky practices to the NBA was not going to be smooth. It's such a huge jump. Favors is the same but on a different curve. Both these guys need smart minutes, not maximum minutes to help their development. My guess is Favors averages 25. Kanter between 10 and 15. Hopefully they earn more. But those are good numbers for how young they are.

Today the turkish coach told that, We dont expect Enes to play amazing or dominate right now, he should just work hard and try his best.

Hmmm .. I don't disagree, which is what throws me off .. the coaching was the worst part of the team.

yeah, they will be criticized a lot if we cant at least make the semi finals. Because we were world 2nd last year with another coach, this is a newbie, its his first experience in coaching

So far .. he's allowing 1120% chuckin' .. bad.

His tombstone pile driver has been looking a little rusty as well.

To be fair The Undertaker started his pro wrestling career when he was 19(same age as Kanter will start his pro career), but it took him 6 years until he actually became The Undertaker.

Hopefully it won't take Enes that long for him to become the Underkanter
