Really the trade to consider would be sign-and-trade Favors and filler for KAT. Of course Minny won't consider this at all. KAT could still develop some of these other skills, at least to passable levels, like maybe Aldridge did. Guys that came in on the strength of their offense and developed reasonable defensive games. If he does he has the potential to be an all-world level player. But right now you just don't know.

That said, if you can get him without giving up anyone named Mitchell or Gobert, well, duh.

Ok, I’m seeing a lot of nonsense floating around about KAT. The only way we get him is with a multi-team trade (if we don’t give up Mitchell or Gobert). This is probably the most logical move where everyone has incentive to pull the trigger:

LA: Clears $7M this year and picks up Burks’ expiring rather than stretching Deng.

NY: Clears Noah while picking up a nice piece in Teague.

Us: Land a good defending wing and KAT.

Minnesota: Thibodeau gets a full reunion and just needs to get Boozer back from China.

KAT also made all NBA 3rd team, so any extension will be at 30% of the cap instead of 25%. He is not eligible for that 30% if traded. Bad for Minny, good for any trade partner.

I wouldn't do the trade but it would be interesting to have Towns, 22, and Mitchell, 21 for what could be the next 10 years, improving and hitting their peak at almost just the perfect time as the Dubs and Rockets fade into oblivion.
