It is a bold trade regardless foe the wolves. The Knicks got the best player no doubt. But KAT comes with his issues.

The wolves looked like they were starting to gel finally and then they pulled the plug on the whole twin tower thing.

I think the Wolves are a more balanced team now in a lot of ways. Money wise for sure. But they lost a true difference maker for 2 high level role players.

My guess is that this gets us a better pick, not worse. Antman has to do more heroics and one injury to Antman and/or Gobert leaves them with Conley (3 years older than the one we know), Randle, Naz, and Donte...

Thats really a bunch of high level starters and not many difference makers. For that reason, I think the draft picks improve.

KAT was super friendly towards Gobert. However Conley is more than enough to make the team culture work even with Randle being a little snarly. But if you lose Conley then this team could fall apart from a chemistry perspective and you need good chemistry to maximize Gobert.

Plus Ingles

i say a little worse. randle had shoulder surgery in the offseason. i love donte though. lets pray they are a lot worse and we benefit.

Next seasons FA class is bad, I can see him getting money if he opts out (probably slightly lesser, but more years).
I could actually see the Rockets, Pelicans, Magic, and Thunder potentially offering him a bag and they're all projected to have space.

KAT struggles to stay healthy. Over the past 5 seasons he has played 250 of 410 games.

When healthy, MIN is clearly a much better team when he plays, missing roughly 40% of games for a max player is a big issue.

I would guess their regular season record won't be negatively affected. Randle has generally remained healthy for his career (last year was the first he missed a substantial amount of games).

I'm not sure how relevant this is, but Minnesota actually played significantly better with Rudy on and Towns off than when they were both on the floor together.

Yeah, they appeared to struggle for a while but looked really good together in more recent games. Not sure what the on/off #s show, but they played well together based on the eye test.
I was referring to the on/off from last season. According to pbp stats they were 4pts better with Rudy on and Towns off than with them both on the court together. Could just be a situational lineup thing.

In my opinion Rudy and Towns were never synergistic. Rudy takes up a lot of the space that Towns likes to play in. They figured out how to make it not be bad, but it was never great.
