Power is not a necessary element of racism. I cannot understand what you think you are accomplishing by adding that in.
It's Dalamon. Everything white people do is wrong, and everything everyone else does is relative and shouldn't be judged.

No. Racism is believing that people's characteristics are determined by their "race". It is a question of intent and degree. Had Durant meant it as "white people shouldn't be allowed in the NBA due to their inferior athleticism" then it would have been racist and unacceptable, because the brown-ness of his face doesn't give him moral immunity. As it stood, it was a tongue in cheek play on the stereotypes thrown in a friendly manner at a colleague.

it's a well-acknowledged, necessary element of racism, my friend-- particularly in many contemporary sociological circles who examine this phenomenon for a living.
naw, that's racial prejudice. Not racism.
And here comes the appeal to authority. Didn't take you 5 minutes.
If you can't support an argument logically, then confuse it with semantics.
It's a liberal construct. Power is not a necessary element to racism. An individual with no power whatsoever can act in a racist manner, and to suggest that they can't is utterly ridiculous.it's a well-acknowledged, necessary element of racism, my friend-- particularly in many contemporary sociological circles who examine this phenomenon for a living.
I could go through their arguments, and illustrate why they're better than your stances-- but I really don't have the time to do that right now. My appeal to authority isn't being used as a way of just shutting down opposing opinions-- it's just a way of saying "look, I'm not saying the moon is made out of cheese. There's other people who believe this as well, and they come with professions of respect". Of course, the proper way is then to go into each argument and illustrate why they should be respected-- but I don't have the luxury of that time right now.
The semantics stem from an argument of logic.
Making a joke about the intelligence (or lack thereof) of a black person is never appropriate. It seems you need that clarified.I'm genuinely not offended. I am surprised at what we as society allow to be said about one ethnic or racial group, but not to another. Also, public comments such as this always have more scrutiny. If Gordon and Kevin were good friends, this comment might be just fine in private. I'm not sure it's appropriate as a public comment, similar to my "smart for a black guy" comment above.
Durant is pretty smart.......for a Black guy.
Your awesome I love the response. The reality is that it is ok for anyone to attack white males, but heaven forbid we say anything back. Racism hardly exists in the USA. I think "culturelism" does and there is nothing wrong with not liking a certain culture and not wanting it to invade the culture that we have. Far to many people get racism mixed with not liking how people act.
