What's new

Kevin Durant should be are only focus

And the "Utah" I live in is the Salt Lake Valley and to a lesser extent the greater SLC metro area. LDS membership and participation goes way up in Utah's rural areas. Here in SLC, the city where the Jazz are located, Mormons are not the majority. Not even close. SLC just elected a Lesbian mayor who a week or so ago got married to her partner. It isn't even a big deal.

I know the bad rap Utah gets. But it's not fair. It's not fair to people like me who are Utah natives who have never been a part of the LDS church, but have family that goes back several generations. It isn't fair to people who have come here for work or other reasons and now consider Utah their home. And it isn't fair to LDS people, who are pretty damn chill, especially compared to so many other protestant Christians.

I hear there are even Democrats in SLC. Is that true?

Many have no faith in the LDS church or its leadership. Many. The process required to get your name removed is laborious. Yet the LDS church has one of the highest attrition rates of any major faith.

Being Mormon isn't genetic.

Takes about 10-15 minutes of effort to get your name removed. I know that for a fact. Not sure I would call that laborious.

We need to do everything as an organization to acquire him sign and trade this summer. I do not care what you say. Kevin Durant wants to win. He has seen Dwight AND Harden go to Houston. He has seen DWill, KG and PP go to Nets. He has seen Melo go to Ny. He has seen CP3 go to LA.

Durant knows going to big market means failure. He will follow the new star path that LMA follows by going to true competitor.

My plan: keep Gobert on bench. Rest starters more. Trade bench for cash relief. Sit player for small injury. Send Neto to d league.

That is all.

i think it's humorous the way u think Utah even has a shot at Durant. Lol. Maybe he doesn't want to go to the LA's or NY's or whatever. He may want to go home though, but he's not leaving OKC for our small market Utah Jazz. If he does intact want to stay away from big markets. It's either his home Washington or back to OKC.

Only way Utah gets its hands on Durant is if OKC thinks he's leaving and looks to trade him and that is too risky a move for the Jazz giving up all its assets for Durant to probably pack up and leave leaving the team pretty bare and on the brink of yet another long term rebuild. If Durant hasn't won a title by now in OKC he's not doing it in one year in Utah.

Maybe the process has changed. As I remember it you had to send a letter to your bishop (many would have to try to find out who their bishop is) explaining why you want to leave the church. Then you get a letter back explaining that you will never be with your family for eternity if you go through with this and you need to write back saying you're really really sure you're willing to face those consequences. Then you'll eventually get confirmation that you name has been removed. The back and forth can take more than a month. For many people there's no reason to bother with all that. It doesn't hurt them to have their name on the rolls of the LDS church.

I had my name remover from the Church's records last year. I went in and met with my bishop face to face, something most inactive members won't do. I handed him letter and we sat and talked for about 90 minutes. Two months later, I received a letter stating that my records had been removed.

Predicting it now folks. We will get KD this summer.

If Hayward gets traded for expiring deals and 1st rd picks they can afford KD and Lebron, right? You think thats feasible?

They could probably offer Lebron a top role and reduced minutes to string his career along.

Exum/Burke/Neto
Hood/Burks/
Durant/Ingles
Lebron/Favors/Lyles
Gobert/Favors/Withey

+ the 1st round pick(s)

That's why I said active. It is a process to get your name removed from the roles of the church. My parents went through it when I was a teen, more than a decade since they had participated in the church in any way. Many people don't bother and remain on the roles despite not being LDS.
Isn't that the same with Catholics, Baptists, Methodists, people of Jewish descent, etc.? Many of my in-laws identify as Catholics despite never having set foot in a Mass in decades. They really don't care about being on some church role or not. I guess the reason ex-Mormons want to be removed is so those pesky home teachers or missionaries don't make a yearly visit to invite them to come to the Wa rd Christmas party or let them know about the Block Emergency Plan.

As far as I know those churches don't keep role like the LDS church does, and boast about their inflated numbers.

I think it's important politically in the state of Utah. As well as how it affects perception of Utah outside the state.

Labrum is not leaving Cleveland. He would be wise to follow Durant here. We will thwart his Cleveland championship intentions for rest of his career.

I am not Mormon, but Mormons are definitely better than the garbage that SLC is soon to become.

Utah is probably the best ran state in the nation and has one of the lowest numbers of entitled, liberals. But because of its favorable tax laws and booming business, the liberals are starting to flock in, and as a result, ruin the state.

When I come home for the holidays and what not, I actually like that I can take a break from hippies, hipsters, feminists, Bernie Sanders supporters, etc.

I am neither liberal, nor conservative, but I had to neg this post for douchiness. I find the far left to be equally as annoying as the far right, but I've also met many good people on both sides, and I'm sick of the idiots who like to lump everyone they disagree with into a group they consider to be trash. It's attitudes like this that make me giggle at the fact that conservatives find themselves in the position of having a pro-choice candidate like trump as your best bet to beat the dems. Might be time to do a little soul-searching.

I've been saying this for a while now. Acquiring KD is not that far fetched, yet we move on to talk about Mormonism.

I'm a Mormon who loathes the politics in Utah.

Can't believe Rudy missed them both.
