Kevin Love Trade Scenario

Would y'all be willing to trade our 2014 pick and Kanter for Kevin Love? I would only do the pick if it landed outside the top 3. Would be willing to throw in the Warriors pick this year if they demanded it.

Trade:
Kanter
2014 Pick
Sign-and-trade Player to make contracts match

It would be risky, because Love likely wouldn't re-sign if we didn't have a great year, so the pressure would be on to show him that we could be a long-term winning franchise. I think it could be done though. We would have to go out and sign an established coach like Lionel Hollins. Someone who could teach team defense.

Our starting lineup would be:

Burke
Hayward
???
Love
Favors

I would bring Burks off the bench because I think there is more than enough offensive fire power in the 1st unit. He would be a valuable 6th man. For the starting SF, I would like to sign Trevor Ariza. Really up and down player year to year, but I like what he brings to the table and would be a perfect fit. When he is on his game he is one of the better "3&D" players in the NBA. I think we could sign him around 7 million per year. I wouldn't really go over 8 though.

I think this team has the potential to dominate. Favors and Love would work great if Favors can take the next step defensively. Love/Pecovic hasn't worked that well because Pec is fairly slow footed, but the athletic Favors would cover Love's mistakes well. It would be like the 2nd coming of Nowitzki/Chandler.

Only negative is that this would probably prevent us from re-signing Burks the following year (if Love stays on the team long-term).

Biggest issue in this would be finding the contract filler to make contracts work, and growing the balls to take a huge risk on the team being able to impress Love enough.

What are y'alls thoughts? To me, this is the only way we can realistically get a super-star. Not even a huge fan of Love, but I think him and Favors are a perfect match.

If Kevin Love was this mountain-moving superstar, then wouldn't Minnesota ever have finished above .500? Pretty sure he'd come under righteous fire within a year for being the most brilliant stat-padder this team has ever seen.

I don't think they'd do it unless the pick was top 4, in which case idk if I would do it.

It's an interesting idea.

I'd rather have one of the top 3 players in this draft. Someone who we will have for a while.

I would see if Burks can start at SG first.

If he can - lock him up. Trade Hayward. Draft 3's and D's SF with the GSW pick.

Burke
Burks
'14 GSW pick 3's and D's guy
Love
Favors

You've got shooting, you've got defense, you've got slashing, you've got playmaking.

Kevin Love part aside, is anyone interested in Ariza in FA?

Ariza/Hayward/Burks makes for a pretty good win rotation.

i wonder what's wrong with minesotta....I thought they would be atleast a top 8 playoff team this year. ON paper they have talent.

Rubio has underperformed

Pecovic isn't a good defensive fit next to Love.

Weak wing rotation outside of Martin.

Lionel Hollins... more like Hionel LOLLins, m i rite?

I'm sure we can find a better coach.

Good thinking outside the box. I'd risk it, and if the Jazz thinks he doesn't want to stay, we can trade him for more young talent and picks, and hope somewhere in there we get a star. The point is to get a star, and not just hold on to a few decent to good players if your not getting a star. Good post Cy.

Think he would comand a bigger haul then Deron got us. We'd have to give them Kanter and Burks and our pick or Kanter Williams our pick and gs pick. Even that might not be enough

Doubt Love would want to come here though.
He's a California kid and wants to play for Lakers.
