Kevin Love Trade Scenario

With UGLI... Twolves will want more...

Plus Kanter and Pekovich wouldn't work together!!!

Kanter and 1 first round pick for LOve?lmao..Totally don't get that Kanter market value is low. Someone might give you a second round pick for him.. If you wanted love it have to be this. The next 2 year first rounds and Favors

Look at the CP3 trade, Look at the Carmello trade. They didn't get great pieces back and those guys actually had playoff success on their belts.

Guarantee they won't get many better offers if they wait to the deadline.

Don't think he would sign an extension with Utah. A top 5 or even top 10 player should be able to almost single handedly take his team to the playoffs every year even as 8th seed. LeBaron James with worse talent than Minnesota has took Cleveland to the finals.

I love those outlet passes, but I still think he's one of the most over-rated players of this generation.

...over-rated? Love is underrated if anything! And he's not signing with the Jazz under any circumstances! He wants to shoot AND win....not just shoot!

The reason teams get so little back is those players only wanted a specific market and wouldn't sign any where else. So why would a team trade all it's asset for a one year rental of a superstar. With out teams competing for a player the original team is either force to take significantly less or get nothing at all.

Ask yourself why would Love stay in Salt Lake once his contract is up. If you can't think of a legit reason that doesn't also exist in L.A., N.Y., Chicago, Miami, etc. than you are wasting your teams future trading for Love.

He said he wants to win. In my scenario we trade for him and we become a pretty good team. He isn't going to leave for LA when they aren't even making the playoffs. I think if we traded for him and we became at least the 6th seed, he would seriously consider staying given how young the team is and how much room for growth there would be. I don't really think he is thinking about leaving for LA as much as people say. I just thinks he wants to go to a good team. He might not realize Utah could be a good team, but if we did a trade for him like the one I outlined, while getting Ariza (which I understand this scenario is impossible), I think he would stay.

Yes, I know he wouldn't sign an extension with Utah.

Do you people read? The scenario is that we take a risk in impressing him enough to stay. Probably an idiotic move, but the point is that it would be a risk.

Play it safe w/ Kanter and have a lot of "ok to good" players, or take a risk and get Love and see if him and Favors are a fit for dominance.

I'm on board with this, plus if he does leave we can just trade him at the deadline for young talent and more picks.

Would y'all be willing to trade our 2014 pick and Kanter for Kevin Love? I would only do the pick if it landed outside the top 3. Would be willing to throw in the Warriors pick this year if they demanded it.

Trade:
Kanter
2014 Pick
Sign-and-trade Player to make contracts match

It would be risky, because Love likely wouldn't re-sign if we didn't have a great year, so the pressure would be on to show him that we could be a long-term winning franchise. I think it could be done though. We would have to go out and sign an established coach like Lionel Hollins. Someone who could teach team defense.

Our starting lineup would be:

Burke
Hayward
???
Love
Favors

I would bring Burks off the bench because I think there is more than enough offensive fire power in the 1st unit. He would be a valuable 6th man. For the starting SF, I would like to sign Trevor Ariza. Really up and down player year to year, but I like what he brings to the table and would be a perfect fit. When he is on his game he is one of the better "3&D" players in the NBA. I think we could sign him around 7 million per year. I wouldn't really go over 8 though.

I think this team has the potential to dominate. Favors and Love would work great if Favors can take the next step defensively. Love/Pecovic hasn't worked that well because Pec is fairly slow footed, but the athletic Favors would cover Love's mistakes well. It would be like the 2nd coming of Nowitzki/Chandler.

Only negative is that this would probably prevent us from re-signing Burks the following year (if Love stays on the team long-term).

Biggest issue in this would be finding the contract filler to make contracts work, and growing the balls to take a huge risk on the team being able to impress Love enough.

What are y'alls thoughts? To me, this is the only way we can realistically get a super-star. Not even a huge fan of Love, but I think him and Favors are a perfect match.

Love is a loser, but he'd command way more than you're offering. He'd go for more than James Harden's salary dump. Add three more protected 1sts and you might temp them.
