What's new

Kirilenko appreciation page

I'm a fan of AK, but I'm not big on memorials and statues and awards.

It's just a number. Not that big of a deal. Like any further Jazz player will ever choose to wear 47 anyway. AK played here long enough and did enough to get his number retired.

In the end, AK is being judged more on his contract than anything.

This.

I will especially miss AK every time we lose a close game. Even when he wasn't playing well, AK was always a game changer on the defensive end of close games. I wish him nothing but the best, no matter where he ends up.

He won't be remembered as a perfect nba player basically because of his lacking game soul sometimes(ok, may be alot of times) and his contract-worthiness. But he will allways be special to us European Basketball fans because of his many uniqe qualities which he could not be able to expose in the NBA.

One of the most spectacular and crowd-pleasing Jazz players of all time!
I hope they will retire his number! He deserve it!

Holy ****. Retire his number? What the hell did he contribute? The dude had a ton of athletic ability but was oft-injured, played with little to no passion half the time, and never improved his craft for no other reason than what we can presume was a mediocre work ethic. Should we (the proverbial we) retire Derrick Coleman's number too?

Not so fast ...
who knows what will happen ...

correct me if am wrong but the Jazz's mid-level exemptions are still available

a player cut, an injury or a trade might require the Jazz to employ AK again (if he's not yet signed somewhere and if he's already injury free) to fill a need.

No just for the fact that he ran a guy over in a Home Depot parking lot and didn't even play in teh NBA.

....retire his number??? Only after he gives back about 3/4 forths of the money he actually stole....impersonating a professional basketball player while playing for the Jazz! And the only crowd pleasing I ever remember was his fumbling away pass after pass like he was some kind of circus clown! However, he had this going for him.....up until recently, he was tattoo-less!

Hilarious that I got neg repped for this by a user named, surprise, AKMVP. According to him, I'm biased. Really? So AK is not oft-injured, inconsistent, lacking passion and lacking any improvement in his game over the last several years?

Not that I really care about a negrep, but my last one was because I said I like Rondo. Sheesh.
