Kirilenko pleads with Real Madrid to pay him 4 Million/year

I'm basically at the point I hope AK goes to a contender so Jazz fans will finally realize how great a player he is. Then I'll look forward to all the posts about how he 'changed' once he left Utah, tried harder, didn't cry, or whatever. The guy is a flat out fantastic basketball player no matter what his weaknesses are.

Very versatile, a regular contributor, but not a finisher very often, nor is he a reliable shooter.

I, too, would like to see him play elsewhere so fans can see that, although playing valuable defense, he really is a third option offensively at best. Apologists will claim that it's an adjustment process and that he doesn't quite have the motor.

In terms of his price tag, DW is being touted at $5 million; NYT, though, calls it somewhere between $2 million and $3.5 million for the year (plus 24-hour guard, personal assistant, and chauffeur), if he finishes it out. (Kudos to DW for being a first mover on a foreign deal, although there are risks involved.)

That makes AK's relative value in Europe something south of that--maybe $1 million to $3 million.
 
If AK is not demanding an option for the NBA that is a pretty bitch *** move by him. He still could help a lot of contending teams out and possibly get a ring, but seems like he is happy to go overseas and impose his game on lesser talent, where he can play pretend superstar.
 
I think AK could care less if he ever wore a championship ring. I think he is content to play a few more years and retire in Russia.

If this was 2004, I would agree with you. That is not the same AK.
 
AK is most definitely on the downside of his career. His fragility is not going to improve but only increase. He still has skills but he's not nearly as quick or active as he used to be, and that was his biggest strength, his energy and speed.
 
Give me Evans over Kirilenko. He can dunk and block shots.

However, I'd much rather have a 3 that had range outside of a dunk and could actually stay in front of his man. Getting a steal or two a game is cool. But not effective when you're giving up layups because of your gambling. I'd much rather just have someone that can stay in front of the man and buy into team defense than individual highlights.
