God I hope this means we are getting rid of sportsnet. If Smith cuts AT&T out and gets a competent and more accessible broadcasting partner...I'll be happy. I'll make a Is Ryan Smith God thread or I don't know what do for a guy worth 2 billion dollars.

Steve Brown is a good guy who's in end-stage kidney failure. I used to laugh at some of his calls, but the dude has been tied to pretty much everything sports related for me since I was a child (Jazz games and also doing Utah football and basketball games).

Sucks about his kidney failure.
But there is no such thing as a “good guy” (no “bad guys”, either). That sh!+ is just a quaint myth.

Without a doubt. Sideline reporter is the typical token minority hire.

I guess the only thing of note is KK didn't announce it. Someone on Twitter mentioned she wasn't coming back and she confirmed it - l l imagine we can take from that it wasn't a mutual decision.

Locke is a good stat guy and does bring up some valid points (I remember, shortly after he returned to the SLC market from Seattle I think, so many years ago but before he was the Jazz' radio guy, and he was going off on how it was mathematically smart for teams to take way more threes than they were taking at the time, and I think he was shown to be right). But I can't do his voice. It's not for game calling. It's too nasally. It's too whiney. It's just not a good voice for broadcasting play-by-play.

As superficial as that is, I think the voice is at least part of the equation when it comes to a successful play-by-play guy. He just doesn't have it.
