Kyle Filipowski Hype & Appreciation thread

Flip shooting 40% from deep over the long-term would be a huge deal. Long-term he would pair really nicely with Kessler as part of a 3-4 man front-court rotation.

I didn't love the pick on draft night (the value was clear, I just don't like Dukies on principle) but hard to argue he doesn't look like a top 10 player from this draft, minimum.
 
Flip actually has a chance to be a pretty significant offensive player. Along with having a handle, passing and shooting touch, he's decently athletic. He also makes reads and good decisions.

Last 2 games: 24/10 with 5/11 from 3pt (45%).

Well at least you arent calling him the next Jokic.

My ceiling for him would be Naz Reid mixed with Sabonis, but worse at the things those guys are elite at. So not quite the volume shooter as Naz and not quite the bully/playmaker that Sabonis is.

I wouldn't underestimate the significance of a 6'11" / 240-lb guy who can genuinely handle, pass, make reads and score at 3 levels. It takes a bit of imagination, and he'll have to build up his body some from where it is so that he can just move guys out the way, but he's actually sneaky athletic. Like, Kelly Olynyk is kind of a doofus athlete. He's a bit slow. Whereas Filipowski I think can play at closer to full speed.

I guess it will be something to watch. See how good Filipowski is at taking guys off the dribble as he develops. That will be key. He's got to be able to beat a defender off the dribble and create an advantage from it. From there, I'd trust him to eventually be able to make a play. Not saying he'll get there, but it could be a possibility.

I dont think calling him a mix of Sabonis/Naz is underestimating him at all. That's an all-star and one of the best stretch bigs in the NBA.
 
Hopefully we look back at flips performance last game as the reason we ended up with Flagg.
