What's new

Kyle Weaver

Report is that Weaver looking to make an NBA team this year instead of playing in Israel -- 10 teams interested in him: https://thehoopsmarket.blogspot.com/2010/08/maccabi-tel-aviv-decides-to-give-up-on.html

Hope the Jazz are one. He seems like a better option for that last wing spot than Jeffers. Of course his price may be too high for the Jazz, as with so many of the names that have been thrown around previously.

...can he shoot? play defense? rebound? Listen to instructions? run plays???....or is he so dumb, I could bounce a basketball off his head like depicted below?

He was a second round draft pick in the draft that gave us Kostas and two Europeans that are still playing over the pond.

Weaver played a ton of point in college and was projected as potentially being one in the NBA. I'd sign him and see if he can backup the 1 or the 2.

He's a good spot-up shooter (but not great), a good ballhandler, a good passer, has a high bball IQ, and is a great defender. Does all of the little stuff, but doesn't appear to be a liability on either side of the floor. I was interested in him in 2008, and from what I've seen, I'm only more interested now.

Not that I disagree with anything you are saying, but if he was such a solid player, why was he cut? I know the Thunder are pretty stacked at the guard spots, but it still seems like they would want someone you described as a end of the bench guy.

They would've kept him, but they had 16 players under contract and a team is only allowed to retain 15, so they had to cut somebody. I don't disagree with their decision, but that also doesn't mean that he's not an NBA player.

Also I am sure OKC probably tried to trade him for at least a second round pick, but nobody wanted to even give a 2nd round pick for him. He probably wants more money than a Jeffers so not much chance we will see him here. I certainly was not impressed with from the games I saw. Matthews is a much much better player.
