Lamar Odom!

I guess I shouldn’t have responded to what I thought was your lighthearted jab through alt because it has led us into the same feedback loop that has become so unpleasant and familiar every time we communicate. Your characterizations in the post above are completely inaccurate.

I have no need to convince you to see the world in the way I do because I have no doubt that for you the world works in the ways you describe. The differences in our realities are because, among other things, it’s obvious that we have a fundamental disconnect in the way we see things. I will not characterize how I believe you see the world because I’m certain I would inadvertently get some nuance that is important to you wrong, but I will tell you that I believe man has a fundamental right to exploit the world for his own use. I'll also add that unlike many people who see things this way my basis is not religion.

I recently read a book called The Four Agreements which surprised me with the eloquent way it described how I believe the world works. There's a lot more to it than this, but one of the important points is that every one of us are living our own private dream. When we are awake this dream is linear, but it is nevertheless still a dream, and that dream is our reality. It does not, and will never, match the realities that our fellow dreamers are experiencing. As a result, I believe that you have the right to see the world in the way you do. It does not bother me that you don’t think I have the right to see the world in the way I do, or that you feel like it’s necessary to insult my intelligence in order to make your points because I don't need to listen to your rants. Technology has blessed me with an ignore button and as a result I can usually avoid becoming engaged. That's what I meant by “back in your box.”
Goodbye.

So you've fallen headfirst into the trap of correlationism. And then added a liberal twist ('the individual's right to dream'). OK.

Since we're gettin real with one another: I do remember very clearly that it was you who started cracking personal jokes at my expense. I know you've recently gotten comfortable in this victim role (like I'm coming after you), but that's the way it happened.

But that's neither here nor there. I disagree with your values, and I've trained myself to have specific discussions about why they're wrong-footed. We probably won't have those discussions. But it'll be hard for me not to knock you off your dreamy high horse when you get up on it.

I feel really bad for him.

Yes he was given some great opportunity. Not only did he make a lot of money merely playing a game. But he got to play in Miami and LA for most of his career. It wasn't like he spent most of his time in sac town or minny.

But drug addiction can just be awful.

The thing I don't understand is why? You have all the money, power, and fame you could ask for. And I suppose the answer is that addiction never is anything rational. That's why it's an addiction. It overrides rational thought and reason, the brain's higher levels of thinking. Which makes me wonder how anyone ever truly breaks their addictions be it sex, drugs, etc?

Anyway, best of luck to Lamar Odom. I hope he recovers. If not, then I hope he finds peace finally.

This, addiction to sex is real. Which may well be accompanied by fear to compromise.

Not that im an expert on this sort of thing but wasn't he doing ok until he married a Kardashian?

If memory serves didn't he fall off the horse and become addicted to drugs during their marriage? I think that was around the time he tried to play for the Mavs and was just awful.

So did she help him to get back into the addiction because being married to a Kardashian sucked? Or did he get back into drugs which ruined his marriage?

Khloe, isn't that her name? She's looking in a lot better shape these days too. So I don't think it was a mutual drug addicted couple thing. He seemed to get back into drugs while she seemed to recognize the dangers and left him. Ever since then he's been in a downward spiral

Is that what happened?

Only he would know, and in any event he's who've always had the last say in where his life was heading to. Yes the surroundings and people you hang around with can be a factor but at the end of the day you choose what to do and who to do it with.

....here we go again...

Seriously, it's like you're hiding in the shadows waiting for Jamezz to post something. No I'm not going to send you any nude pics.

your "fear of compromise" comment confused me, so I asked for clarification.
