I am less and less excited about Lyles as a pick. If we had taken him at like 25 or something then sure, but he is pretty underwhelming. Hopefully he pulls a Hood during the season and launches himself into "steal of the draft" category, but for some reason I don't see it. Most players that hit the ground running in the NBA and show they have real potential normally come out of college with at least one elite-level trait (shooting, defense, athleticism, ball-handling, whatever - Hood was already pegged as a shooter, for example) but Lyles has no elite level anything. Seems like a wasted pick tbh.

If he needed hip surgery don't u think GS would hold him out of something as unimportant as SL?

I thought the issue with him during the draft was that he would likely be out 9-12 months because of a hip surgery.. hence teams being too scared to draft him.

If this were the case no way he'd be playing now. First round investments are too valuable to teams to just let him play in meaningless games if he needs surgery on his hip.

Um yes this is the case. There were thoughts his hip would need surgery just use google. I not even give you a link but no reason try and make one love feel silly. This was everywhere! Maybe now he doesn't, but there was talk around draft.
