What's new

Las Vegas Summer League Game Thread: July 13th - Utah Jazz vs. Minnesota Timberwolves 7:30 PM PST

I said Redskins wasn't racist and thought it was stupid that Indian's find it offensive all of a sudden. That was the one thing that really set people off and I apologized for it. I don't really know much about the Confederate Flag to have any opinion on it. I think there is a big double standard in the world today, citing how Andrew Harrison called Frank Kaminsky a ***** and nobody cared.

No one cares that Harrison calls Kaminksy by the n-word because he isn't black at all and it's just a ridiculous use of the word. Is that hard to understand?

Bro.. Black people would get mad if someone called them that so they go and use it? Doesn't make sense to me, it's a double standard. They shouldn't call each other it or other people it if they think it's racist.

Double standards exist, get over it.

You one of those people who think men should go around hitting women too?

So, I'm right, but I need to get over it.

Hell no, men who hit women need to get locked up for life.

I think whether something is racist or not has to do with intent. If someone had the confederate flag up because they grew up watching the Dukes of Hazard and saw it as a statement that they are rebels, their intent wasn't racist.

If people want to keep the Washington Redskins name because they grew up with it, they aren't being racist.

Calling someone African American is a way of trying to describe someone in a politically correct manner to avoid being racist. The problem is that the very act of pointing out a person's skin color is considered racist by some people. Is it so different than saying "that tall guy" or "that bald guy" or the "dude with the green eyes over there"? In my mind it is only racist if there is derogatory intent.

If someone calls me cracker I'm not offended because I think it just sounds silly, but if someone calls me "white boy" with venom in their voice, it offends me because of the intent.

If I'm racist for thinking the Washington Redskins do not have to change their name and because there is a double standard, then so be it.

No, you are racist for not understanding that it's kind of racist to mass exterminate a group of people then name a football team after them.
