What's new

Lauri and Luka wanted to team up in the past…

I would love Luka on the Jazz as long as they don't have to gut the team and all our picks. He is frustrated because that is his situation in Dallas, they have no bench and there starting Five is average. I think he would whine less if he had more help. Still his talent is pretty amazing.
Me too. Sadly i think it would require more than I would be willing to give up and I also dont think the mavs will actually trade him. He is too young, too talented, and on too long of a deal for them to move him imo. Even if he wants to be moved.

Doncic is elite PG and he would be excellent guy to feed Lauri, Sexton, Agbaji etc
but absolutely not by any cost especially if Jazz have to include Lauri and Kessler into trade talks.

Doncic also has reputation as a cry-baby who whines too much for referees taking too many technical fouls which hurt the team.
But perhaps that's fixable issue and in this case i trust coach Hardy and his coaching methods.

Will Hardy is promising NBA head coach and he has got bright future.
So maybe Hardy can get good results with Doncic too.

If trading for Doncic turns too expensive for the Jazz in that situation i would look cheaper PG like Lamelo Ball or Tyrese Haliburton.

Not a big fan of a superstar who doesn't defend… its a no for me.
That's almost the definition of a superstar, though. What you hope is that there is some way or indicator that they won't destroy their team's ability to defend well (this is the difference between Luka and Trae; it is impossible to have a good defense with Trae).

You realize it’s half court offense that rules in the post season right?
It's also a way to grind your own players down (more than the opponent over time). I think teams with certain roster compositions (ones that are really good in the half-court) should lean back into slowing the pace.

I think getting Luka fast tracks the team to relevancy. Luka and Lauri reminds me of Dirk and Kidd.

I don't know what we can even trade to make salaries match. Luke makes $40 million. What would a deal look like?

4 first rounders plus young talent seems like the going rate for perrenial All Stars.

Sexton - $16
Kelly O - $12
Obadji - $3
#9 pick
3 additional firsts?

That isn't enough salary to match.. Maybe a sign and trade with Clarkson?
Can we even trade THT? NBA trade machine shows we can't include Clarkson, THT, or Gay. Maybe we can once they opt in.

In theory after the opt ins, opt outs, would could just absorb Doncic into our cap space

I would jump of joy if that trade happened but the price would be higher. Has to be one of the highest prices ever paid for a player.

I dont know if a 24 year old triple double machine who scores 32 PPG has ever been traded. Only a few have ever even existed.

And he still has multiple years in his contract. Mavs aren't trading him

I would normally agree with this, but something there feels very off. The Kyrie Trade reeked of desperation at that time… it feels like the only thing that might save them would be winning the lottery

I don't even know where that Doncic Jazz trade rumor came from and how legit / serious it is.
But the fact is that Jazz needs to find new PG to fill that hole which Conley's trade caused.

Of course Jazz can draft PG this summer but getting PG in off season trade or draft night trade should be an option too.
Example Charlotte Hornets aren't going anywhere with their curren roster so if Jazz can make good or very good trade offer to get Lamelo Ball it is absolutely worth a try.
Doncic is TOP10 PG in NBA today and guys like him rarely get traded without serious reasons.

Doncic also whines too much to referees and that's itself a red-flag but not so bad.
So why Jazz should overpaid and lose many assets like possibly Lauri and Kessler to get big baby PG like Luka Doncic.
