Lauri Markkanen Hype & Appreciation Thread

First tenth of a season mark: Lauri has been insane from downtown but just in two games so far has he reached the FGAs from inside he had in his ALL STAR season averages - and makes them in lesser efficiency. We all know the reasons. Lets see if he can find some more later... As long he makes his threes this is fine... Kinda . but it is not I miss real guards. Shoot as much threes U need bc no one gets them entries to our bigs.

Can you do my taxes?

When Lauri is supposed to extend? I hope they have a clear plan to show him as i'm not sure he will go only for money.
Losing him for nothing in the off-season would devastate this team. The FO better be 100% sure what he is doing and that means we have a plan to win with him. If you are tanking this year like many suggest, then you have to have a big trade, FA pickups, and a lot of other hard to do things next off-season to turn it around. Otherwise you trade him now, which I think is stupid.

Can't imagine one min we trade Lauri. Hopefully, the plan is to get a high pick this year + one good FA and compete next year. i'm still upset about last season. Was fun to watch but semi tanking bring us nothing...

A high pick may just become another Taylor Hendricks and good free agents don't exactly look for situations like ours.

People always like to think about the best case scenarios when tanking. Yeah, sometimes you hit the jackpot, but sometimes you keep losing for 4-5 years as all the draft picks are too young to turn the team around.

Most likely we're even worse next season.

Normally I would agree but the Jazz have way too much draft capital for that to happen. I can see them "tanking" (for lack of a better word) this season for a top 5 pick and then using some of those FRP's in the warchest to bring in another impact player next offseason. Ainge has already stated in so many words he ultimately wants to win here and is too damn old and competitive to tank for 5 years.

He’s going to re-sign. 100%. He’s the man here, he’s about to get paid, he just bought a house - after asking Ainge if it was safe to do so, and he loves Salt Lake.

I know the Hayward/Mitchell PTSD is real, but **** those guys. This isn’t that.
