Lebron Saggin off AK

they wouldn't have that record if they weren't getting good 3 point shooting from their wings
The Jazz are not getting good 3 point shooting from their wings.

League average for 3 pt %: .361
AK + Raja + CJ 3 pt %: .349
AK + Raja + CJ + RonnieP + Hayward 3 pt %: .338
Deron 3 pt %: .320
Utah Jazz 3 pt %: .332

If you further consider all the attention Deron, Sap and AJ attract, the numbers paint an even bleaker picture: The Jazz wings are missing WIDE OPEN shots. It's the biggest offensive weakness the Jazz have right now, whether you admit it or not.

I stand corrected. the Jazz as a team are not shooting well from 3 point range.
However, Kirilenko and Bell are, and if they were not, the Jazz would not have nearly as many wins as they do. They are two thirds of the wings, and don't deserve so much criticism on this board for their outside shooting IMO.
It is too bad the point guards are not shooting better from 3, but it's not easy to hit an NBA 3. I think Miles could improve, like DeShawn has. I suspect that Millsap might have that ability right now, and it is not being used.
Lots of NBA stars shoot % s lower from 3 than Jazz players, and don't take flack for it.

To be more clear, having read months, nay years, of people going on and on about how poor the 3 point shooting from SG and SF is for the Jazz, the facts tell us this:
The Jazz SG and SF are shooting a decent % from 3.
The PGs are not.

The Jazz SG and SF are shooting a decent % from 3.
Uh, no.

Raja is doing fine now. AK hit a bunch early, but teams know they don't have to guard him, and the Miami game showed that most of the time they're right. CJ has been bad more often than not. Ronnie P, who has been playing the 2, and Gordon Hayward are missing.

And, again, all this despite getting WIDE OPEN looks created by Deron, AJ and Sap.

Also, because of their lack of ability to do much else with the ball in their hands, the wings are frequently passing back out to Deron when they ought to be able to take or create a shot for themselves.

In your opinion, what is a bigger problem for the Jazz O right now? Turnovers are down, Sap and Deron have been beasting, AJ is improving, starters are starting to match the bench in transition.

you may be right.
All I'm saying is that the 3 point percentages of Bell, Kiril, and Miles are decent to good.

I don't see enough games to say a lot more, beyond things that have already been said, except that I have actually been surprised at how many games they have last year and this year, so I don't relate to all the complaining on this board about the players.

meant to say, surprised at how many GAMES they've won, at how good their record has been.

I talked about this in the chat, the main problem for the Jazz wasn't LeBron sagging off Andrei, it was Andrei's reaction to it. Instead of catching the ball on the left wing outside the 3pt-line, AK would catch it 17-feet from the basket - with Jefferson on the left block. He had 2 TO's in the 3rd/4th qtr on this play - as you can't enter the ball into the post from that position, and we couldn't get the ball to Al when he was rolling (19 pts in first half, just 6 in the 2nd).

Even if LeBron sags off, AK still has to catch the ball outside the 3pt-line (on the left wing), because that's how we get into our offense. If he can't enter it to the post, AK would then pass back out-top to Deron, then run down and set a pindown screen for Al who pops out to get the pass at the left elbow as we run our back-screen action on the weakside.

AK just completely deviated from the offense and took us out of rhythm, and didn't even try to guard LeBron on the other end. It's one thing to struggle shooting or not have players guard you - the Jazz's system can deal with that. But if you don't run our offense properly we have no chance - because live-ball TO's in our offense results in us getting killed in transition.

Seems to me they should figure out why AK was shooting better from 3 earlier in the season, and go back to doing that. Maybe he is just getting covered better, maybe the makes were flukes, but if his defender is slacking off, and he can hit .380 from 3, we should want him to take that shot.

Nothing more than a hot-streak for AK. Started 11-18 (61%) and has gone 7-28 (25%) the past 13 games. Last year he started 10-24 (42%) then went 16-65 (25%) the rest of the way. Only had 1 season where he was above a below-average 3pt shooter - 2007-08 (which was also the Jazz's best offensive season in the past 15 seasons).
