I believe this might a conditioning/strength issue too. Staying in a defensive stance for a long time is hard.
 
Just finished watching the game.

Someone said trey sparked the comeback.... he came in at the end of the 3rd with jazz down 4 and left the game with about 5 minutes left and the jazz down by 5.

Favors had a good all around game imo.
Exum was fantastic for the most part.
Ingles was good.
Burks jumper was off but he had 4 really nice buckets in the paint, played really good defense, and had some good passes.
Trey struggled.
Hayward didn't seem to have enough plays run for him early on.... then played great to end the game. (He had a couple of very good rebounds at the end)
Gobert played good defense but was always out of position for rebounds after the good defense.
Booker was ok.
I thought kanter was better than he was given credit for. His mid range jumper was on tonight and I saw him shut down his man a handful of times (maybe 4 or 5 times) He rebounded well too and had some tough matchups.... He is what he is, his defense will never be great but I didn't think it was that bad tonight. He also had a couple of really tough calls go against him.

Correct. Not that it's a reliable indicator of a player's worth over a small sample size, but Trey had the lowest +/- for the game (-8). Obviously most of it was due to the Jazz falling behind big in the 3rd quarter while he was in and not being in the game for the final push when Utah took the lead and held on (that was Dante who had a +11).

Bench definitely won the game for us, outscoring the Detroit subs 29-19 while playing a collective 8 mins. less.
 
The funny thing is that I actually believe that we got Detroit's best shot. They played about as well as they ever do and we were good enough to top them on the road. In other words, beating them wasn't a fluke. As green as we are, I think the Jazz are currently the better team. Detroit is going to fight for the playoffs in the EC. We are definitely ahead of schedule.

It was impressive that the team got up early, gave up the big lead, couldn't hit a shot or make a stop...but kept fighting. It was ugly, but this was a good lesson in playing until the end.

Utah is just awful, though, when Hayward holds the ball until there are 7 seconds left on the shot clock. Couple of horrible possessions vs. Cleveland and more of the same tonight.
 
I need to see some real games to properly evaluate Kanter. But from the little I've seen, he's being asked to do something he's too slow
(take your pick) to do, defensively. Like his hero.
 
Hayward and Exum are a lot of fun to watch together. Both have high BBIQ and above average court vision.

They need each other.
 
As a Kanter supporter let me just say that I'd like to have him come off the bench. Start Booker.

Let Kanter figure out the defensive schemes against back ups. He'll like that more and let's just be honest, until Exum starts, the ball moves better with the bench unit.
