Let's Talk Coaches

I am a huge fan of Snyder, but when there is an elite coach available with a proven track record of success (that has not hit his ceiling yet) like that of Coach Thibs, you should go after him, that is if you want to win. The Jazz are never in the works of landing a big time athlete, a big time coach, a big time front office executive. Larry Miller is rolling in his grave right now. The Jazz have went from a solid playoff team with over 20 years of making the playoffs, to a farm team for talented athletes for the other 29 organizations in the NBA. DO NOT GET ME WRONG. Quin Snyder is a good coach. We shouldn't expect good because we deserve great. If the fanzz don't set high priorities and expectations for the team, then why should the management? We are contempt with the promise of what will be tomorrow, so they will feed us the headline that we want to hear. The question is, do you think our team has the core to win the Championship in the next 5 years?? That means, beating the Spurs, Cavaliers, Warriors, LAC, ATL, Toronto, etc??? Do we have the core that can one day dominate, beat and smash the face in on those teams in a best of 7 series? The answer is no. So that means that we are not doing enough as an organization, that means that we are not demanding enough as fans, that means that in 5 years from now, we will be here talking about how good we may become. Doesn't matter! If we become good, we will fall short to every great team in the NBA. WE NEED TO BECOME ELITE!!!!! We have tasted scutta for so long we are starting to like the after taste. Demand more, we are the UTAH JAZZ! We went to the finals against Michael Jordan's Bulls that won 72 games in a single season and made the playoffs for over 20 years in a row!

I like Snyder, but you have to see who else is available. Currently I don't see any home-run hires I would consider a huge upgrade or potential upgrade over Snyder.

Luke Walton is the only person I would have an intrigue over as far as fresh faces. If Walton denies all jobs this upcoming summer, do you wait on extending Snyder next season and give Walton an interview?

As far a vet coaches up for grabs, I don't really see anyone I like too much.

I agree with most of this with the exception that I absolutely hate Snyder's "offense". I also hate his time out clip board plays. They have been nothing short of disastrous with the exception of one Derrick Favors HORNS flash and dive to the rim layup.

Where I'm stuck on QS is if he is trying way too hard to invent new offense or if he just does not have the talent to build anything better. I held/hold the same position on Ty Corbin's offense except I know Corbin did not have the talent and continuously maximized what he had to work with on the offensive end.

I am not certain QS has maximized the pieces he has. He doesn't even bother running a set offense with progression like the Spurs do. I haven't seen a single set play with options. It's basically all freelancing drive and dish. He can't get more out of Favors or Hayward or Ingles or Booker? I doubt that would be the case with an offensive alpha for a coach.

All of this. But I think it tells us more. That Snyder doesn't understand the nuances of the offensive game well enough to get the most of his players. Evidence is his terrible time out play calling and execution.
