Who from this list tickles your fancy for next year? So much money is being spent this year (brought up in another post), that I could easily see the Jazz waiting around this year, getting AK's contract off the books, and doing something next summer. Or they could just sit around like they are doing and eventually most of our team will be signed by other teams and we will be left with a starting lineup of Gaines, Jeffers, Hayward, Kosta, and Fes.

Those are the guys i'd be interested in.

The problem with waiting until next year is, there still will be a lot of teams with cap space. The Clippers, Nets and Knicks all pretty much got shut out of the big time free agent bonanza this year and barring something really unexpected, all of them will have room to add at least one max deal if not more. The other problem I see is that most of the really attractive names on that free agent list for 2011 are restricted free agents which makes them very hard to get.

I'm not saying it would be bad to have some money available for 2011, I just don't know how comfortable I am with Utah standing pat the rest of this offseason, letting trade exceptions expire and putting most, if not all of their eggs in the 2011 basket.

No offense, but who do those teams have right now? Its not like Sac-town and New Jersey are higher up on players lists than Utah is, and we have the world's best PG.

Alonzo Gee didn't make the list?

Thanks for narrowing it down. Gasol seems like the prize at this point. I just looked at a 2011 mock draft and there are zero top center prospects. Mostly PF and SF. I know it's early, but it would be great to get gasol from free agency and use the draft for the sf/sg's.

Harrison Barnes is who I want from the draft, but I doubt we suck enough to get the #1 pick (barring a Deron injury of course).

but anyways, somebody is going to overpay for Gasol just because of his brother. I want Al Horford from that list the most.

If the Jazz could get two of the following I would be very happy. Gasol, Green, Oden, Horford, Noah and possibly Perkins if his knee is ok. It is true that many of these players are restricted but one has to look at the current roster of each team. Memphis just gave a big contract to Gay, Mayo needs to get paid and the owner is cheap. OKC just extended Durrant and they still have to pay Westbrook. I highly doubt Green would be available but I think he would be a great fit in Utah. He can play SF/PF. Oden injuries make him available. Let Matthews walk and then front load Oden's contract. I think he is a high risk and not a max guy. It still would be funny it cost Portland millions to keep him. Horford, I like this guy a lot. Only problem is if Millsap tears it up than there isn't a need unless Millsap can play SF some. I like Noah and doubt he leaves Chicago but it would be funny getting him and leaving Boozer as their defensive front. I do not think Noah is a Max guy but he will get overpaid. Perkins is tough as nails and I doubt he leaves Boston but it might be a $$$$ issue. Unfortunately, he will be coming off an injury so he is a risk.

No offense, but take off your SLC-colored glasses and try to remember that Utah ranks DEAD LAST in regards to where players in the NBA want to play. Wasn't there just a thread about this where they showed a recent Sports Illustrated poll and the overwhelming majority of players chose Utah as the least desireable location in the league?

Your post is dead wrong because when it comes right down to it, Sac-town and New Jersey are indeed higher up on players lists than Utah is. The fact that some Jazz fans still refuse to accept this is borderline lunacy.

Agree with this. Nobody wants to come to SLC. That's what makes KOC's job so dang hard.

I want to re-sign Fes and get Shannon Brown, both on the cheap this year. I also want us to develop Miles and Hayward more this year. I want AK gone and not re-signed. And I want Horford and Perkins, if and only if he is back to fully healthy.

Williams-Price
Miles-Brown
Hayward-?
Horford-Millsap
Perkins-Tomic-Fes

Since Atlanta paid 100+ million out to Joe Johnson, doesn't that make Al Hortford difficult to re-sign? I say go after him! A versatile player who can play both the 4 and the 5.

I totally agree. We could probably get him at 70% of what Boozer just made too. And he could be better.

Dwill/CP3
Kobe/Wade/
LebRon/Durant/Melo
D. Howard,P.Gasol/Nene
Fes,KK,Gortat,Sabonis

Hmmm, your dream team still has Fes and Kosta on it? It may just be you being funny, but I think that post was offensive. /slap

Wow, this summer isn't over and the fans are already talking about next year. This after years of hoping the NY pick would save us. We have become Golden State.
